That's good to hear. This is just speculation, but I think the plan was for him to drop weight to improve his athleticism, then this pandemic started and he lost the bad weight sitting at home and didn't get a chance to live in the workout room and replace it with good weight. This offseason I believe he'll come in to camp in much better condition.

He was at the facility last offseason. The only exception for guys to visit the training facility is if they were rehabbing from injury. He had a PRP injection in his knee.

That's very encouraging. Work on that base and technique just as hard. Contract year. Trying to earn that $10.8M 5th year option.

Issue is that 5th yr option has to be picked up by May 3rd, and apparently it's now fully GTD once the option is exercised, it used to be GTD for injury, and fully on the first day of the new league year, but apparently with the new CBA in 2020, the option is fully GTD, Idk what the 49ers do with McGlinchey, I can't see how you can GTD $10.88M unless you know 100% that he's the guy and will extend him for less in 2022.

I feel the same. I figured that's why he's gained 15 pounds and is working so hard to prove to them he's worth in next month.

I say we trade McG during draft day to a OT-needy team. Brunskill can totally play this position and we can draft a replacement this or next season. We have time. You also have Coleman on the team who can come in and still be an effective swing tackle.
BUT BUT BUT BRUNSKILL WILL GET RAGDOLLED AND THROWN OFF SCREEN SNAP AFTER SNAP ..... oh wait
Top 3 elite run blocker easily and below average pass pro. I guess that's enough to keep him. Especially if Fields or Lance are eventually back there to escape pressure from the right side unlike Jimmy

He still has the potential to improve in pass pro, maybe with better coaching and actually getting better fit for it.

I think there is a very real chance, he needs to work on strength a lot in the offseason. Yes he will lose a little speed, but if he were to drop to merely a top ten run blocker and come up to just an above average pass pro that would be a good trade in my opinion and is definitely doable for his talent level.

Lol I thought McFloppy would get this before Kolton. How the tables have turned.

That Miller contract will be higher than McGlinchey's contract, but that's a lot of coin to dedicate $30M-$35M on 2 tackles. Wonder if there will be a trade if the staff has confidence in Brunskill or McKivitz to take on the role full time.

best case scenario would be top 5 run blocker and above average pass pro.
