The sad thing is this could all be fixed of he just gains 20 pounds. He's talented as heck but he just isn't big and strong enough. He needs to be eating and weight lifting all off season.

I am almost at a point with McGlinchey, that I would rather see him traded for a 3rd, and have Brunskill slide over to RT. We're not picking up his 5th year option, and if he has a awesome year, he will cost a lot of money to resign (McGlichey), and if he continues to decline, why would we want to resign him? He has value right now because he's an ELITE run blocking RT, and has shown success in the past of being capable at PASS Protecting, but not lately.
Brunskill to me isn't as elite at run blocking, but is far better at pass protecting at the RT spot compared to McGlinchey. Freeing up that money from McGLinchey is almost what it will cost to add Mack to be our starting C, while also adding a 3rd round pick to our draft capitol to improve our roster. That 3rd round pick very well could be used on a C/Guard who backs up Mack this year, while also competing for the starting RG spot.

I see your point. If he does well this year we are screwed. Actually either way we are screwed: if we wanted to pick up his option or not another team is going to pay him a lot more based on their desperation and his elite run blocking. One of the worst pass protecting performances I've ever seen this last year. Getting trucked by lbs and safeties, just embarrassing. Like Kwame Harris bad.

2018 McGlitchy would call 2020 McGlitchy a weakling.

Humph...darned if we do, darned if we don't. Really...i would love to have our OL coaching staff,, perhaps his idol, return as a special asst for OL, but whose job is to bring McG back to life. The way you neatly added Mack in makes this more compelling. Interesting, thot provoking post.
