Frank Gore 5-9 207 most of his career. I think he was pretty durable.

Yeah, Gore was about as healthy as it gets for the position. Hardly ever misses games.

His first couple of seasons was brutal to watch , Norv Turner tried to use a power running scheme with a poor offensive line, and was ineffective and a true 3 and out machine, the Mckinnon & Matt Asiata 1-2 punch didn't strike fear in the heart of one defensive coordinator in the league , it wasn't until Pat Shurmur started using him as a receiver ,and added talent to the offensive line that Jerrick started to blossom , which is why I'm intrigued to see him in Kyle's scheme of things , I wouldn't be surprised to see him rush for 800+ yards and rack up 500+ yards receiving , decent numbers if he is to split time with Breida or Williams ?

Don't get the hate.

This guy is our Alvin Kamara, only he's more athletic and has Shanahan calling and designing plays for him.

210 at 5-9 is a good size especially when you consider he's one of the strongest RB's in the league.

I agree. People go on about his size but there are plenty of RB's that are around his size and do well.

Terrell Davis 5'11" 210

Hmmmm...

Hmmmm...

Frank Gore: 5'9" 212 strong and slow
McKinnon: 5'9" 205 strong and fast

Not saying he will be as good at running but I'll bet he is used much more in the passing game.

Gore was not slow as a young back...there was a period early in his career where he led the league in 20+ yard carries.

Gore 4.58 (unofficial sundial broke)
McKinnon 4.41 (unofficial 4.35)

Edit: Sorry, couldn't resist. I loved Gore and his low running style, and doubt McK will equal his effectiveness sliding through the line. And if Shanahan had Gore he would have had a much better career I believe. But McK in Shanahan's system seems perfect and he may explode in overall production. All a guess at this point.

Edit 2: Forgot to mention...both guys are very high character. Great to have a high energy, charismatic guy.

Old team: Minnesota Vikings.

McKinnon's 2017 campaign set him up to become a feature back in San Francisco. The 25-year-old racked up 991 scrimmage yards on just 201 touches in Minnesota, proving he can be utilized between the tackles, on third down and in the passing game. McKinnon's going to blow last year's production out of the water in his first season in the Bay Area. Expect Kyle Shanahan to use him in every way, shape or form, and make sure McKinnon is in the best situations to create mismatches.

2018 prediction: 200 carries, 1,000 yards, 10 rush TDs; 60 rec., 600 yards, five rec. TDs.

10 rushing TDs would be great, but give me that 5.0 yards per carry and the 49ers offense will be rolling.
McK is going to be soooooo money in this system. He's quietly been my favorite none 49ers rb for a while, still can't believe he's with the red and gold, one of the best kept secrets at the rb position!!
I really hope Joe Williams pans out. Those two could be a killer tandem.

i have no hopes for this guy and in my opinion not drafting a hard running rookie because we hope joe will be a player for us would be a tragic tragic mistake

They have some decent young backs and a top FB. Still, I agree they should draft a RB in midrounds to compete with Breida, Williams and Mostert...and McNichols--someone chastised me for leaving him out earlier!

I can't wait to see what Kyle does with him.
