He didn't want to be franchise tagged after this year and that's what the hold out was about. He essentially just locked up a massive 3rd contract rather than being tagged and potentially falling off. This is a giant win for Jones and players should take notes cause the tag is b******t

I would like to see them revisit the franchise tag, the NFL that is, it's kind of bs imo. You get em on the rook contract, and you can year 5 option your round 1 guys. After that they should be eligible for FA. Jones was already tagged a while back. Granted I don't think he played on the tag, he signed his second (current) contract. But you shouldn't be able to tag a dude 2x, at most 1x and that's that.

I didn't know that Joe Thuney accepted for restructured and give to Chris Jones for the moneys raise. Lol.

The days of Patrick Mahomes being underpaid relative to his QB counterparts are at an end.

Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to terms on a restructured contract that pays the QB $210.6 million between 2023 and 2026, the most in history over a four-year span, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported on Monday. The agreement could reach $218.1 million with escalators by the end of 2026.

The $210.6 million is guaranteed over the next four years, per Rapoport and Pelissero.

Sides also plan to revisit the deal again after the 2026 season, effectively cutting the remaining years on the deal from eight to three.
