I just recently watched the GB/SF game in the 2012 playoffs. I remember at the time disagreeing with Harbaugh making the switch and I stood by that position for about a year. But when I really thought about it, looking back, as well as watching the game, as much as I like Alex Smith, he just isn't that guy.

It's interesting because even with a loaded team (like KC last year or SF in 2012), that is still no guarantee for him to win it all. As great as a defense can be, sometimes they will need the offense to help them out, unless you are the Ravens in 2000 or Seahawks in 2013. Even the 2012 49ers defense, as great as they were, needed the offense to put up some points to have a chance. I don't see Smith scoring more than 28 in that playoff game. I don't see him coming back on Atlanta in the NFCCG or making a game out of the Super Bowl. To put things in perspective, to date, hasn't he still only won one playoff game, the Saints/49ers game?

I hope he does well and Washington gets it together. I've always rooted for the guy, but the explosion of Mahommes shows what happened in SF wasn't a fluke in terms of his QBing. I was hoping that he could outperform Kirk Cousins in terms of wins (he never was going to beat him with stats). We'll see if this year is different from all the others. I'm just realistically hoping for 10 wins and a playoff appearance for Washington. If they can beat Philly once, that would be even better.
