And then they took deion lol

Deion is a f**king whore

Ooh...if they coulda just found a way to keep the entire core of the the 1994 team together for one more year. We'd be on a quest for 7. That team was a juggernaut.

Yea it kinda bugs me that ricky watters played more seasons for the seahawks than he did the 49ers

The '94 Team was strictly a short term juggernaut...it was cobbled together (especially on defense) with a lot of short-term, frontloaded contracts for one purpose: DETHRONE DALLAS

The cost was the seeds for the late-90's/early-2000's salary cap hell were sown irrevocably

Team also lucked out in the draft in '94 (BY, Floyd, Woodall), but after that had mediocre drafts that didn't have blue chip returns, apart from TO

Agree, and overall, I was never impressed with any of Seifert's drafts. Even the '94 draft.

What's that about trusting Saleh....
Excellent hire!

It had at least one more year in its dominate window if we could have held it together....but we couldn't and as you said it was the paid for in the cap hell years. It's just crazy that statistically the 1994 defense was the worst (outside of 1998) of the later dynasty days. I think if it came down to either keeping Deion or Ricky, I would have taken Ricky because it took us 3 years to find a HB and the defense was top 5 yearly from 95-97.

Only other thing i would have undone from that time period would be never changing our colors and uniforms.

Sorry to derail
Great f**king Hire.

Loved this guy as 49er, and not too shabby as a Coach either...

As Assistant HC that puts him above Saleh if I understand the hierarchy. So maybe he can overrule and help with some of the play calling that have caused some of us fits.

No it doesn't.

It means he gets a different pay structure than a typical position coach. It also means he will get exposure to the offensive gameplan and have some input. It doesn't mean he calls defensive plays or answers directly to the HC.

I'm sure he had a hand in the development of Bobby Wagner/KJ Wright. Hopefully he can bring out the best in Foster.
Perfect hire to coach up Foster. By all accounts, players love him. He's an alum too. I'm sure Saleh and Malcolm Smith both vouched for him. Glad he's here and not with Poodle Pete up north
I bet they offered this same position to Rathman last year and he turned it down
Norton was not brought in because Saleh has a short leash. Its contrary to that actually. He was brought in because they beleive in Saleh and want him to succeed.

Doubtful.

I love Rathman though. Kyle just had his own guy for RB coach, and Rathman was kind of a hold over that really just needed to exit so the team could start 100% fresh.

Yeah, you definitely can read into it that Saleh's on the hot seat this season. But that's just one way of looking at it.

I think it can also be simply upgrading and getting more experienced and talented coaching personnel to add to the current staff. You can never have too many good coaches, even if they are assistant water boy coach.
