He knew the QB situation was thin going into the playoffs with Trey being out and a benchwarmer sitting behind Purdy. If he wanted he could've at least tried to show the coaches he could possibly be a viable option at some point. Some type of practice ? Throwing ? Something ?!
He wasn't gonna do squat except try and take credit for the SB run had we won it all. Jimmy's the kind of guy when it's all said and done will be flashing his SB rings that Brady won and pretend like he was part of it.
Good riddance
See SWH, this is the stuff, I was referring to. KS was documenting this whole situation, he said there is a chance JG plays all along, but it was remote. He put off his surg, to keep hope alive of returning to the field, maybe for the SB. Do we not see this?

He was not fully healed. That's a dumb argument.

Yea ok. You go with that. Jimmy G delayed his surgery just in case he had to make it back on the field at some point. Some of his fans….

Well why else did he delay it? For fun? Not fan, called reality, my friend. I observe reality and report back, if he had no chance to return, you get the surg asap, and look ahead to your offseason.

Lol same reason he delayed his shoulder surgery or whatever it was with us as well. Dude doesn't want to be rehabbing during the offseason. That's when he goes p***y slaying

So, on what I anticipate will be my one and only visit to this thread, I see that all of the same people are in here talking all of the same s**t. I hadn't intended to come to this thread at all since Jimmy is no longer the 49er's OB and I can't stand the Raiders, but I thought this comment Fred Warner made after today's practice was worth sharing.
On Thursday, Warner went up against a familiar face—his former teammate, Jimmy Garoppolo, now the Raiders' starting quarterback. "It was fun seeing him," Warner said. "I had to check him out before practice started, just ask him how things were, making sure they're treating well over here. He seems happy. It was fun to go against him out there again."
Warner added, "Some guys are just natural-born leaders. You either got it or you don't. And with him, he was a natural-born leader through and through. His competitive edge, every time he stepped out there, you knew he was always going to give us a chance. Just seeing him and his poise out there, he was just a leader through and through, and I respect him a lot, and I'm grateful for him, for everything he brought to our team."
And there you have it. All of the handwringing about what Jimmy "couldn't do" was just a bunch of bedwetting by "fans" who think because they root for the 49ers they are entitled to have a HOF QB behind center every year. Sometimes you have to settle for pretty good.

Personally, I'd just like to have a QB with a positive TD-INT ratio and a QB rating over 75… in the playoffs.
I don't think that's too much to ask.
Jimmy's always been good in the regular season, it's the postseason performances that made a lot of fans want to move on, including myself.

Yup. And so do the Dallas Cowboys, and that fanbase has had it with their QB, and yet we still pretend our former QB who had more help than Dak, was undervalued. I've never understood that.

"Oh yeah, I was playing," Garoppolo told Silver. "That was kind of the plan of not getting the surgery."
Jimmy!!!!
Yeah this makes zero sense. Zero.
It makes some sense, reportedly he was close to a return at the NFCCG. That was the whole "controversy" a lot of 49er folks suspecting he was 'healthy' and sitting it out as an eff u to KS. Course, like a lot of stuff, that was nonsense. So maybe in two additional weeks, he could have played at a fractional percent, like 65 or 75%. Would have been preferable, to Josh Johnson.
So I guess I was just thrown off by the manner in which he spoke about it. "If the 49ers found a way to beat the Eagles without Brock Purdy" implies that he was talking about playing strictly after Purdy went down. I get that he delayed surgery on the off chance that he would be ready by the playoffs. But once everyone saw how Brock was playing, Jimmy wasnt getting his job back. He had to have known that too.
Would love to see the entire quote.

Ya we know he was liked in the locker room. Great... Too bad stats , playoff performance/ SBs aren't based on which team has the better locker room leader.

David Lombardi@LombardiHimself:
Kyle Shanahan on Jimmy Garoppolo today: "I think Jimmy was unbelievable for us. We won lots of games. … Jimmy was unbelievable here. I think he was the best quarterback here in about 20 years since Steve Young. Had an unbelievable record and every time he played and stayed healthy, we were either in the Super Bowl or NFC Championship Game. "I hope no one insinuates I've ever said differently."

No, not by a long shot but as Jimmy Stan Shan points out, he's arguably the best QB we've had since Steve... Me I put him right there with Garcia but that's pretty damn good if you ask me. Did Garcia win us a SB? No, but I thoroughly enjoyed his time here just like Jimmy. Sad that fans were so worried about stupid ridiculous fantasy stats like attempted air yards rather than just enjoy the show. With that said, Jimmy had his shot and while I enjoyed his time here he simply didn't get it done when he should've. Just like Alex, just like Kap who I both appreciate as well. I still respect the s**t out of Jimmy and if he stays healthy I think he can turn LV into borderline playoff team.
