You were one of those people who said Jimmy was worth nothing, a bag of chips, teams didn't even want him as a backup.

Well?

Yea, I guess I was wrong about Jimmy.

Good man to admit your mistake.

Yup see what happens when JG ain't undergoing surg. Day 1 FA signing starter QB deal. Ppl not getting this last season that the surg prevented the trade. Verdict is in now he's healthy this offseason and starting.

And making 22.5 million dollars per year. Not the 35, 40 most of the JC club were claiming he was gonna get.

I got to believe he is going to ask for a trade. Devante Adams talent is wasted on him and I think Jimmy is a decent QB. But he can't throw the deep ball.

Very happy for Jimmy but he is going to have his hands full in that division/conference.

But Jimmy usually predetermines where he's throwing presnap, and if I have Devante, and I don't read defenses postsnap that often, I'm predetermining to throw it to him pretty much every snap.

Called it. Lol at people thinking he would get close to Carr.

The NFL has spoken. Middle of the pack QB.

Who said that??

Quite a few people. Where you been lol

Yah who??

You serious? Go look through the thread.

I'm curious as well.

we are waiting ,Gire.

DJ not to call him out but he leaned on Spotrac which was around double what the actual contract came in at

I suspected weeks ago that the Spotrac just puts JGs career rating, age, avg career earnings in a blender and hits frappe, in other words, garbage in, garbage out. no factoring of his many surgeries and missed games.

Spotrac bases their estimates on how one player compares to the play of 4+ others. They do not rate propensity for injuries. Hence, their estimates.

I think Garoppolo chose a coach and an offense that he believes works for him, rather than a bigger payday (Houston?) that would not be as good. The situation is good in LV. If he balls out like he did this past season prior to his injury, he will likely get a nice extension when the time comes. Both sides win. Jimmy is settled and McDaniels has a QB that can run his offense.

EDIT: No out options.

It was a damn good choice for him. McDaniels will maximize his ability, and there are some real weapons over there.

I had him pegged at less than half of Carr
cuz of the injuries / missed games.. it factors no doubt
hey google.. what's the difference between 22.5m and a half eaten ham sandwich.. oh it's $22.5 m.. sounds about right

I think Brock Purdy also played a role in that. I was thinking he was gonna get like 25-28 million. I think the fact that Brock played so well made teams more confident Shanahan and the team was a big part of his success. But my own humble opinion is that Brock looked great because Brock is great, and Jimmy looked good because he's actually pretty good.

Ask Google what the difference is between $22.5M and a bag of chips as well.

Yeah, but that's enough to know he has pretty good field vision, aggressiveness, a multitude of functional arm angles, the ability to throw off platform, and the ability to improvise. These are traits the great ones have. Usually the great ones also have more physical talent, but I am fairly confident he has enough there to at least be a serviceable starter.

Just asked my coworker (Raider fan) what he thinks. He said he thought LVR could get him for cheaper. I said it's not a bad deal for a QB that will give you 10 games (teasing). Then he said something about injured 49er QBs so I told him "f you, 49ers beat LVR last season. Scoreboard!"

I think with Jimmy the biggest problem is the injuries but yes Brock Purdy changed a lot of things.
The offense looked better and more explosive with Purdy even without Deebo. Plus unlike Garoppolo, Purdy is a good scrambler and can improvise. So teams had to think that Jimmy was not that good.
Besides there was this weird rumor the Niners could re-sign Jimmy before his injury. Brock playing so good killed that possibility for Jimmy.
The real question for me is why the Saints paid so much money for Carr. The Raiders were smart on this one. They get a better fit for their system for half the money.
