He wasn't though. Not when he's the 1st read…that's a play where Jimmy needs to have some anticipation and the ball's gotta be out before he breaks on the route
it definitely looked like he was in Jimmy's side view. also its still notconclusive that was the 1st read.

Looking through the playbook, the only play that is close is redline flat. The whip route is set to 10 yards deep though, but that could refer to 10 yards from the back line or the depth is based upon where in the red zone they are.
The progression is for a shallow cross as #1, then a crossing route instructed to run "back end line" as #2. The whirl route isn't even designated in the progression.
Just looking at the play as a fan. IMO it does look like he looks at BA first in his progression. BA sure acts like he was the read ,if you see his reaction. If he's just a dummy route meant to hold Ramsey you'd think BA wouldn't react like that (since he knows the actual play).
I'm not an X's and O's guy like you so I'll differ. Quick question, the playbook you're looking though. Is it not constantly changing and evolving?
They do change so I don't have the most up to date but a lot of the concepts don't change.
Mike McDaniel even talked about that during TC. Said he wasn't as protective over playbooks as they used to be. He said, "you can go online now and buy our playbook so it doesn't really matter. If you want it, you can have it."
I got a copy of the playbook he's referring to from someone who hooked me up.
I think Jimmy is just looking off to open up Kittles route.
I think Aiyuk was a possibility. I don't think Aiyuk was a decoy route based off his body language. He wanted that ball.
Aiyuk always wants the ball based off his body language. I've seen him have .1 yards of separation in a deep route and look irritated, lol.
I'm just talking about this play. I think Aiyuk was a possibility and was a part of the progression, most likely #1 based off Jimmy looking his way. I don't think it was just a look off to open up something else. I'm more likely to believe that there was no passing lane to Aiyuk and that's why Jimmy didn't pull the trigger to Aiyuk. All good. Jimmy played 100 times better in this game and it should get better as Jimmy rounds into form.

You see the huge hole, you don't decide to check on the next route in the progression to see if it's more wide open.
What huge hole? That throw was ridiculous. Kittle was far from open by the time that ball got there. Like I said elite placement but not safe if that's what we're talking about.
That whip route is a anticipation throw. Throw to a spot between BA and the outside, you got to have faith BA will sell that slant & he did…miss it's just an incompletion.

Totally agree. If it was a dummy route to keep Ramsey away from the play then BA wouldn't have been as frustrated as he was imo.

I mean if that's the case "it's free anyone can look at it" I would imagine that they would be evolving the playbook and adding new elements….not saying your wrong he could have been looking him off no doubt. He could have also been the first read and Jimmy didn't feel comfortable throwing him the ball (new RZ concept which you have to think they're adding stuff).
im not pooping on Jimmy either. Thought that throw to Kittle was elite level. Feel like we didn't need to make it harder on ourselves there and BA was open, I don't think Kyle would have been pissed one bit if that's where the throw went.
tomayto, tomahto Doesn't matter we got the W, but this is when we can digest what happens and see if they can approve

Apparently his shoulder has been super sore after the games, wonder how much of an impact that's having during the games while he is getting the rust off

The throw to Kittle was elite and Kittle needs to do a better job getting both feet in.
The ball should have gone to Aiyuk.
The two things are not mutually exclusive. Both are true.

I had a parlay with only 2 things in it. It was $50 to win $1500. It was Niners D scoring....and Kittle scoring. I was so pissed his second foot didn't get down

I definitely noticed it the first two games...not as much this game though. It's going to take time.

I give George props for making the play close.. if you freeze at time of throw he's engaged fully with one defender another defender lurking (double team) he has zero business getting a TD on that..
Do better on that JG.. take notes ppl
... if I see that JG could do better on a play I call it out.. just call em as I see em
