Hey everyone. Merry Christmas. Full disclosure I'm a pats fan. Have been for about 25 years, and I'm 40. I just wanted to chime in about jimmy g. I'll keep it somewhat brief.
For starters, congrats to the 49er fans. Your wait for a competent qb is over. I hope you're excited. You should be. It's going to be amazing. It's going to be emotional. The highs will be high, and the lows, ya they will hurt Something fierce. But it's all worth it. It's a great time for you guys. Hope you're ready!
I was really hoping the pats would find a way to keep him. I Loved having him here, and truly thought he was Bradys successor. They tried, but In the end jimmy wanted to play. Not sit behind Brady anymore. I don't blame him.
Belichick did him a solid too, sending him there instead of Cleveland or some other crap organization.
Grops is in a great spot. He's in a great organization, with a great fan base who will chant MVP every game. Who will support him to a fault. When the league front office loses their minds and trys to derail the teams progress because they are tired of you winning all the time, which you're probably just cheating by the way, the fans will rise up and have jimmy g's back 100 percent.
I could go on for an hour but I'll wrap things up. I have no idea how jimmy will turn out. Not many people can truly say they do. But from what he's already shown us these past few weeks, and the games and practices I've seen, and learning from the best, safe to say he'll be good. Real fu@@@@@ good. Enjoy everyone. Get ready to run thru a wall!

Thanks! Great perspective from the other side of what we have already seen week in & week out!

Bill Walsh and now Kyle Shanahan. People who can actually identify the traits they want and then utilze them.

No different than your very own BB!!! He is a great one...

Great point jbrack. Walsh was fantastic, and Shanahan is young, but has already done great things in this league. If this things all clicks together, you guys will be set up for quite awhile! Great time to be a niners fan!! (I'm not, but they are definitely a team I'll always be rooting for! A lot of pats fans feel that way as well!)

We're looking for six as well and I hope we found our ticket to it in Jimmy G. Sorry for your loss, but you guys are still in the drivers seat.

It's funny that you mention all the highs and lows you've experienced, because as a Niner fan since 1970, as a 9 year old, I've had my share. (Those 3 straight cowboys playoff loses in the early 70's tempered my young mind to the rough ride.)

Then we had it too good with Montana and Young. But still left a few opportunities short.

Looking forward to some relevance again.

The Kraft era has been extremely kind to you to put it mildly I mean your coaches have been Parcells, Carroll and Belichick and your QBs have been Bledsoe and Brady. I really use to like those early Parcells team (this goes against my Niner Parcells hate because of the 3-peat he negated for us). I just loved Bledsoe, Brisby, Coates and Martin and really wanted you guys to beat the s**t out of the Packers in SB31.

Anyways, thanks for the kind words and perspective.

Yup, losing sucks. Especially when you don't experience it much. But growing up, the pats of the 80s 90s, terrible. Lotsa losin'. Not fun.
I think you have a chance of not only relevance, but back to greatness. eventually. Brady can't play forever. And I have a feeling when Tom is done, this will be garoppolo's league. Seriously. Don't get me wrong, Rodgers is amazing, Watson was awesome. I get it. But I think jimmy is hungry as hell. And has a strong desire to dominate, just like Tom. Guy will be scary good. Probably.
Lets get this W Jim

lol extremely is an understatement!!
Ya I guess the mid to late 90s were ok. Parcels was great, until he wasn't. I was never a Bledsoe guy. Threw way too many picks. Strong arm tho. Ya Coates was a great te. Massive man.
But We're doing ok now. Obviously having belichick and Brady have been a blessing. If after brady and belichick move on, we never won a championship again, I'd be ok with it. Don't get me wrong, it's addicting collecting these lombrady trophies, but if never again, I've had an historic run and something I'll remember till the day I'm gone.
