No, the cap hit for Jimmy this year is nearly 14 mil because his play based incentives were designated "likely to be earned" AB and I talked about LTBE and NLTBE incentives in cap considerations on my channel.
Those incentives are on the books for a cap hit this season and if he doesn't play and achieve those incentives they will be credited to our cap next season but the cap hit is 13.991 mil for Garoppolo this season. Our total positional cap for QB is a little over 22 mil.

Ribs always thought he was going to go somewhere to compete for a job pre injury, including possibly here to compete with Lance(albeit unlikely)for the one year left and try to earn a contract else. Once Lance took the bull by the horns during the offseason workouts he changed his opinion on the competition but still never wavered on schooling guys on the possibility of Jimmy still returning. Quoting direct quotes from coaches while others literally said they were lying creating crazy conspiracies.

Hypothetical but say Trey is a little behind right now as he 21 years old, that's not hate, that's reality. What if Jimmy, a 9 year accomplished vet gives us a better chance?
Be honest... What do you do? From what I gather people would rather lose because they hate Jimmy.

My point is that out of the QBs drafted early last year only one... just one has not been named full time starter. Meanwhile instead of handing Trey the keys they continually leave the door open for Jimbo.
Nothing I have said is false.

Im not a huge Jimmy guy either but he's not a terrible QB. There's plenty of interest from everything that I've heard/read and that's why they just haven't just dumped him to the highest bidder.

When he's healthy yeah........ Dude just had surgery(again) and had a bum hand. 27 million plus a high draft pick for a guy that is oft injured on a one year deal is not ideal right now. If he was healthy he'd more than likely be gone. Again... something the FO has insinuated. We can take that risk as we are paying a bargain (your words) for a guy that can get us deep into the playoffs all while paying pennies for Trey. We are in a win win.
Come preseason/season and a team has an injury, Jimmy's scenario won't be as bad as he'll be healthy and could be a one year rental.

Don't think so. He'd be gone right now if they wanted him gone. They never, not once committed to Trey or that Jimmy returning was off the table.
Trey is not ready. He's a 21 year old prospect that played in scrub league for a single season. Shanny and Lynch's job is to win right now and Jimmy gets us to the NFCC while Trey needs his training wheels. The only way we are trading Jimmy is if we get a rightful deal. If not we keep winning with Jimmy even though the fans hate winning for whatever weird reason.

He costs just under 14M this year. Not 6.5M.
LTBE, the third column above, stands for "likely to be earned." Only incentives classified as LTBE count against any given year's salary cap. If an incentive is deemed not likely to be earned (NLTBE), it doesn't count against the current cap.
The NFL catches up on accounting every offseason. If a player achieves NLTBE incentives, the paid-out money will be charged to the following year's cap. If a player doesn't meet LTBE incentives that have already hit the cap, a team will receive a refund the following year.
Determining whether a particular incentive is LTBE or NLTBE is actually simple: If a player met that incentive in the previous season, it's LTBE.
So Garoppolo has $8.45 million of incentives in his new contract and $5.65 million are LTBE — or charged against the 49ers' 2022 cap. That's 67 percent of the incentives, a notably high amount because Garoppolo actually achieved most of the incentives as the starting QB last season.

No. There's a difference between "cost" and "salary cap hit."
He indeed doesn't cost anywhere near $14M until he plays alot more and earns that money back.
You are probably talking about LTBE money,....which rolls over to the next season if it isin't attained during the current season.

As discussed,...the only reason a good chunk of that money counts against the current cap is because he reached those numbers last year. It's not because it is costing us or anything like that. From an accounting perspective the incentives are likely, but from a reality perspective,...barring injury,...they aren't.

I still think he will be gone by the trade deadline, his salary is now much easier to move, and we just need a QB injury to spur the trade.

The fact that they kept Purdy instead of Sudfeld tells me that the chances of Jimmy getting traded are pretty slim.

Never thought I'd see Jimmy fanboy referring to Trey as a Hoe.
