Yeah. It doesn't help the fact that Jimmy can't stay healthy either. So they would still most likely have to rely on Brissett anyway at some point.

Our FO was too greedy.

I think he can win 10 or 11 games with a team like Cleveland. Strong run game, decent defense. Some fans are old and the last thing they see before they die is a simple playoff run. Jimmy can provide that. So are two 2's really that much?

Think you know the answer to your question

As I get older I think about it from the perspective of the fan. If I got cancer and 1 season left of football to watch, then no, two 2's ain't that much. If i'm thinking long term then yes they are.

Unfortunately fans can't make that decision. But an older coaching staff who needs to win now might.

In the market as it existed in February, a healthy JG would have been worth two 2s. He wasn't healthy and now the market is totally changed. Still, we cannot forget that he played well enough to have his team within a dropped pop fly of a second Super Bowl.

That's a whole lot of speculation there dj. You nor anyone knows if a healthy JG was worth two 2's. I also don't forget that there was still over 10 minutes of the game after the dropped pop fly and he had more possessions to do something; so no he didn't play well enough along with the entire offense who put up 0 points in the quarter

You don't send a super bowl roster on the field with Jacoby brissett because you want to save a mid to late round draft pick. I know 50% of the zone hates Jimmy and I am fine with that but the guy is a startable nfl qb that can make a team a playoff contender.

It would just be for a year. Jimmy can put in an efficient season and position himself well for free agency 2023. I think that's his best option for maximizing his career earnings.

Jimmy on the Giants is career suicide and Jimmy would be smart to take less to play on the Browns as opposed to paid more to lose a bunch of games on the 2022 Giants. (If those were the options for Jimmy)

But now you're bringing in a new QB a few days before the season starts when you could have had a few weeks to work them in as a starter. If Cleveland had a bad roster then reaching for a QB wouldn't make any sense. However they have a loaded roster on both sides of the ball. The expectations is playoffs.

Would you be willing to trade a 4th or 5th round pick if that was the difference between making the playoffs or not?

I don't understand people still blaming Tartt for the loss. The drop didn't help but the offense wasn't doing squat.

lol what is the logical conclusion? if they wait until hes cut, itll be harder to "acquire" him

How? Put yourself in Jimmy's shoes. You are looking for either a 1 year contract to reestablish your worth or looking for a LTD. Right now, it seems like the only options would be:

Seattle
Cleveland
New York Giants

Which team would you choose to go to? I'll answer for you. Cleveland.

Cleveland is the only team that might need a QB that is a team where he would for sure start immediately and would be doing so on a good team. I know if I was Jimmy I definitely wouldnt want to go to the Giants, nor would I really want to go to Seattle.

imo it would be a conditional 3rd or 4th as well.

Depends on when the Watson decision is announced. I'm guessing that the NFL doesn't want him taking the field at all so it would have to come out before tomorrow night.

At that point, Cleveland would have a small window to bring in a new QB and get them up to speed with the rest of the team. Garoppolo is basically the only starter caliber QB available that has experience in that offense.

Just for expediency, they might be willing to overpay to get him in the building PDQ. If they offered a 4th or 5th, it'd still be a lot better than cutting him for nothing weeks later.

Watson was always going to play in the preseason. His suspension is for regular season games. Even after the 6 game suspension was announced, the Browns said he would play in the preseason. I wouldnt count on the ruling coming out before tomorrow night.

IMO, the Browns were just protecting their position. As it stands now, they will ask the league for a ruling before tomorrow night's game so they will have more time to get the new QB up to speed. They cannot afford to take the chance of a 10+ game suspension with no PS time invested in an interim QB. The talk of Brissett being an acceptable alternative to Garoppolo is pure nonsense. Nobody that has watched the two of them play is buying that take.

I don't think CLE has a SB roster. It's a wild card bubble roster if Jimmy is the QB imo. AFC looks tough.

You're either vastly overrating Brissett or greatly underrating Garoppolo. One guy has been able to rack up a lot of wins as a starter, the other couldn't get into the playoffs even when being on a talented Colts team with Frank Reich as the coach.

Brissett is a backup at best.
we will get a third and pay 1/3 of jimmy g's salary and the browns will pay the other 16 mil or so. get 'er done john

You read the whole report? I can't because I don't pay for the Cleveland.com lol

Right? Yeah people act like day 3 picks are 1st rounders. The NFL hands out day 3 picks like candy now whether it's from lost players, coaches, or the FO now.

Yes, I would trade a day 3 pick if Jimmy assured CLE a playoff spot. I'm not sure he guarantees them a playoff spot.
