"Should we acquire Jimmy?"
"No, I've heard he ghosts people. This is a classy organization, we can't have people like that in our locker room."
"Good point. I'll tell people we considered it so it looks like we're doing our due diligence."

PFT said willing to trade for him. I can't read her full article because it has a paywall.

take your feeling of distain for Jimmy and toss them in the trash for a min. He's much better than Jacoby and will help them win games.

I know its not guaranteed. But with a non-guaranteed contract, its much more complicated to trade for him (unless the Browns are willing to pay the non-guaranteed salary). So there will have to be negotiations by the Browns and Jimmy's camp prior to any trade.

Cleveland would be paying Watson literally nothing this season. They have the cap space to absorb Garoppolo without skipping a beat.

For sure they do. They could absorb all of Jimmy's non-guaranteed money. I just dont know that they would. There will have to be negotiations.

In fairness, the original report was "acquire." The word trade never appeared in that report.

Yeah I'm not and doubt it would happen but I've said it makes sense for them for a while now…

imo it would be a conditional 3rd or 4th as well.

Depends on when the Watson decision is announced. I'm guessing that the NFL doesn't want him taking the field at all so it would have to come out before tomorrow night.

At that point, Cleveland would have a small window to bring in a new QB and get them up to speed with the rest of the team. Garoppolo is basically the only starter caliber QB available that has experience in that offense.

Just for expediency, they might be willing to overpay to get him in the building PDQ. If they offered a 4th or 5th, it'd still be a lot better than cutting him for nothing weeks later.

Watson was always going to play in the preseason. His suspension is for regular season games. Even after the 6 game suspension was announced, the Browns said he would play in the preseason. I wouldnt count on the ruling coming out before tomorrow night.

It also punts JG to the AFC where he has little impact on our playoff chances

lol what is the logical conclusion? if they wait until hes cut, itll be harder to "acquire" him
I'd just keep Jacoby if I were the Browns. Jimmy's salary and giving up draft capital just isn't worth it for a slight upgrade over JB.

Our FO was too greedy.

I think he can win 10 or 11 games with a team like Cleveland. Strong run game, decent defense. Some fans are old and the last thing they see before they die is a simple playoff run. Jimmy can provide that. So are two 2's really that much?

Cleveland doesn't have the draft resources to spare. Also, they probably don't want to trade for him after hearing about how he ghosts people. They don't want someone with such poor character leading their team.

I think we are taking this ghosting thing way out of proportion. It's not like the Browns are trying to date him. Maybe blow him for a season.

Has the ghosting affected his play? We had 2 hugely successful seasons while he "ghosted" teammates and coaches in the offseason. Maybe he wasn't ghosting at all. Maybe it was a 3 week long orgy where all phones and other personally owned devices had to be put in the lockbox by the front door upon entry. Who knows. What I do know is this ghosting thing did not affect his knowledge of the playbook nor his ability to take us deep two different seasons.

If he's suspended indefinitely like the NFL reportedly wanted then he's removed from any team activities immediately. No practice, no games of any kind.

Will consider "acquiring", not trading for Jimmy. By the time that DW stuff is settled, the season will be upon us and we will be cutting him anyway.

Nah reports are they could have a decision before the first preseason game. If he's getting a 10 + game suspension (which is likely) then it makes all the sense in the world to trade for JG and get him in camp asap.

he's better than Jacoby Brissett and they're trying to actually win games. Jimmy would redo his deal and start most of the year.

I guess we'll find out soon enough than. Hope folks don't get their hopes up too high for a possible 6th round draft pick. LOL

At this point any draft capital compensation will be a win.

Provided we are on the hook for zero of his salary. If we have to pay something to acquire a draft pick, I would rather just cut him.

Totally depends on how much we have to absorb versus the level of the pick.

It would be worth eating SOME of his salary if the trade were with Cleveland as opposed to JG landing in Seattle. For example, we get a 4th and carry $10M for one year. The FO can do a lot with $14M this year and an expanded cap in the future...and the Seahawks have Luck instead of Jimmy.

I would be patient and wait for SF to release Jimmy. Then rely on the fact that the Browns are the best chance for Jimmy to play a season and get a good contract in 2023. Jimmy on the Giants is career suicide and Jimmy would be smart to take less to play on the Browns as opposed to paid more to lose a bunch of games on the 2022 Giants. (If those were the options for Jimmy)
Let's go Goodell. Do it!... Do it! ...Do it! ...Do it! ...

I know Jimmy wants to start and the Browns have a good team, but do you want to go to that "clown" show?
