No, the ball is 100% in his court. He can play the tags and make 140 mil guaranteed with ease blind folded.

We'll likely make him get to the playoffs once before we give him Stafford $.

He's not going anywhere though so there's nothing to worry about.

And if he gets injured or comes out and doesn't play well? He could lose a lot of money. That's a pretty hefty risk imo.

Nah pay him now!!!!!!

Seriously, what do you need to see. He's doing everything you want, and the only way to bungle this is to let him get away. I would have agreed with you before today's performance. Now there are no excuses.

can he win a playoff game in the frozen tundra with no sleeves on, or even in Seattle with noise louder than a jet engine?

Of course he can.

He can't even lose

Lit up the best defense in NFL for 44 points

Broke the record for most yards in 1st 4 starts for a team , and that was Kurt Warner with the greatest show on turf!!!!

Not everyone is going to be like Cousins and comfortable risking long term security for short term gain. If the 49ers don't try to screw Garoppolo the way the Redskins did with their soon to be ex-QB, I imagine a deal gets done fairly soon in the offseason.

I don't see us making him the highest paid qb even with his spectacular play this season. Neither side is going to cry about him playing on the tag 1 season.

No doubt though unlike Cousins in Wdh we will value him as the highest paid qb.

I think if Jimmy has a bad game on Sunday vs the Jags he's definitely leaving in the offseason. He only loves it here because he hasn't lost a game with us. Soon as he losses one he's out the door. You can tell. If he REALLY loved it here and wanted to stay he'd say that.

Thought this would be an opportunity to reflect on hypotheticals positioned last week

You need to reflect on his comment being complete sarcasm. Genus has been advocating for a long term deal for Garoppolo since pretty much the day he was traded here.

I bet Jimmy GQ is signed before February 1st, I have no doubt about that.

Gonna be some time off then negotiations will be done very quickly I'm predicting!!!

I think he gets tagged now. His agent has to be thinking highest paid qb or bust. We'll play it out 1 season knowing worse case scenario is a 2nd tag.

Don't think so.. It would benefit both parties to get a deal done. If the guaranteed money is structured in a sufficient way both sides should be able to agree.

So much this. I don't think there is any way that JG or his representation would prefer a franchise tag. That is a HUGE risk on his part in case of a career ender, or a big fall off in his play. the guaranteed money / years will be what they angle for I think. Either way, Jimmy's buying from here on out.

And he is only the 2nd QB ever to start 6-0

Rapistberger is the only other.

No reason to be depressed anymore as a Niner fan, even if you got coal in your stocking..... Bc we have been gifted by God Garappolo

5 years $120 million with a $50 million signing bonus. That puts him right below Andrew Luck and above Aaron Rodgers. I'd say that's pretty fair for a QB that is 6-0.
I felt like he had a less than stellar game.
this is all too good to be true guys, I still cant believe our QB is this good
