I've been a hardcore Jimmy homer since he got here in 2017. but I still wanted Stafford last offseason, lol. and I'm on record vouching for it. Stafford's arm talent alone is far superior to Jimmy's. I always saw Jimmy as a middle-of-the-pack 12~15 range QB and Stafford bottom of the barrel top 10.

I support whoever is starting under center no ifs and's or butt's.

but I'll jump on any opportunity that presents itself to upgrade.

We got an upgrade. patience. Matty S is a Ram. The others that may come free are pushing 40 and there is Jimmy. Appreciate that we might have grabbed the best QB in the draft. Jump for joy..
Could of had Brady or Stafford. And we stuck with this f**king guy.

No doubt - Trey would be the #3 pick in this draft if he stayed in.

the conversations were about a year ago. I'm referring to a year ago.

I agree abit with Brady because we wouldn't have had to given up much to get him and we still would have had the draft capital to trade up and get our QB of the future. But no way am I giving up 1st RD picks for a rental in Stafford. I say a rental because he only had 2 years left on his deal and I am not giving a 35 year old QB who's body has taken a beating $40 Million a year and losing other key players as a result of that contract. I also think he is overrated. He is a very good QB but he is not elite. He is in the 2nd tier and Jimmy is in the 3rd tier.

One thing that Jimmy provides that not many others in his tier of qbs do is change the culture of a franchise. Yeah he isn't the best qb, but his intangibles and charisma helps the team as a whole perform better. You sell that to teams well enough and we can get a nice haul.

I dont see him as a guy that greatly increases the morale of the team or anything like that. Culturally, he's more of the type that conforms and fits in like a jigsaw puzzle piece.

The players love him and rally around him, he is a leader of men.

Trey probably picked up on a lot of that and will carry the torch.

Kyle and John get most of the credit for the culture though.

1) So he isin't a loser, "he's a leader of men"...? Alright. Love the varying narratives w/extra sauce.

2) Trey is himself. We've seen the kind of kid Trey was before he ever set foot here.

Brady is Brady, Jimmy is Jimmy, Trey is Trey. I'm not going to suddenly act like the Greatest QB Ever gets all the credit for Jimmy being a cool dude with how many years Jimmy spent under him.

And in much the same way, I'm not going to pretend like Jimmy gave birth to Trey since in Trey's 1 year here he seems to conduct himself well.

3) The players loving him and rallying around him says alot more about the players that's been brought in here than it does about Jimmy. Loving your teammates is a good thing to do if your goal is to win.

4) I don't see him as a guy that greatly increases the morale of a team. You do that with great play on the field or great actions the other 6 days a week,...neither of which I can say he provides to a team. I'd think that's an extremely large exaggeration to make.

He is -- however -- a likeable guy that comes in and is not trying to garner all of the credit for himself while deflecting blame to his teammates. That's not greatly increasing the morale of a team,....that's just not f**king the morale up.

Let Jimmy make some of the same throws he's made on a bad team with already-crummy morale, and I can pretty much guarantee you the morale would stay low.
