He is still an above average OG. Sure he can be improved upon but he is the least of our worries.

Zane Beadles was once a Pro Bowler and also one of the better offensive linemen in football.

"What have you done for me lately." Fusco can and should be upgraded, he's not above average, he's barely average and it gets old seeing some random DL driving him into the backfield on a regular basis. He'd be a decent backup but little else.

I seriously haven't paid that much attention to draft rankings, but are there any OLmen that slot in the 5-8 range since it's looking like that's where we are gonna be picking?

Quenton Nelson (LG) in the 1st
Frank Ragnow (C) in the late 3rd or 4th

When it comes to our O-line, it isn't just about pass blocking, they are terrible at opening up running lanes too (at least the interior). We need to improve our 2 guards positions and the Center.

Hopefully Garnett pans out.

Hyde isn't a fit for an outside zone scheme. He dances around too much instead of hitting the hole hard.

And we can't play Breida too much because he is not good in pass protection.

I'm starting to lean on the Saquon Barkley bandwagon. Him with Garrapolo at QB could do some serious damage.

I think he would catch 70 balls in this offense

We can't have 5 All pros on the line.

Fusco is ranked 20th in the league.

He wasn't pushed back once today BTW

An OL that can't run block at a basic level and gets driven off the line, allowing three or four defenders to regularly get into the backfield like we saw today isn't a great scheme fit either. With a good OL you can always find a RB that can perform well, especially in Shanahan's scheme.

ATL has Jake Matthews at LT who was the 6th overall. Levitre was a 2nd round pick. Mack was the 21st overall.

Schraeder at RT was Undrafted and Schweitzer was a 6th round pick.

We have Staley and Garnett who were 1st rounders. And Trent Brown who is one of the best RT's in the league.

We need a center and a guard to compete with Fusco.

But if we don't have the proper RB the line means nothing.

You keep peddling those PFF numbers like they mean something, they don't, even NFL players poke fun at them for how ridiculously off base their numbers off. Fusco wasn't signed for a bargain price in free agency because he's some awesome lineman.

He's slightly above mediocre, okay for a rebuilding team but someone that can easily be upgraded and should be upgraded if this team is serious about being able to run the ball and protect Garoppolo next year. That he was a good lineman 5 years ago doesn't mean much, players rise and fall all the time and Fusco hasn't been anything close to good in awhile.

Nobody says you need 5 All Pro's on the line, you just need better than mediocre and that is all Fusco is at this point.

Tomlinson and Kilgore have been terrible. Fusco is far from the least of our worries.
I think we trade with the Falcons for their Center.

he is 32 or so and has a pretty big contract, they are strapped against the cap. So I think they are going try and replace him with a younger and cheaper option.

I hope so!
