Oh snap. Well, Jed did originally say 2 to 3 years.

Meh. Why concern yourselves with this with so many games left?

It's really a non-story with how early it is. If we win 11 straight games on the way to a Lombardi trophy, you can be assured he will be retained for another year. That'd be kind of a "no duh" scenario.

In all likelihood, however, foul ups and possible injuries here/there that are likely on the way, and we will just have to see how things shake out.
I sense a monster JG game coming up

31% of Herbert's attempts this season have been 5 yards or less.
36% of Herbert's completions this season have been 5 yards or less.

36% of Rodgers' attempts this season have been 5 yards or less.
42% of Rodgers' completions this season have been 5 yards or less.

22% of Garoppolo's attempts this season have been 5 yards or less.
25% of Garoppolo's completions this season have been 5 yards or less.

Also, since everybody knows he's throwing in the middle of the field and it's always crowded as hell, that's more of a complement to his playing. People know where he's going and they still can't stop him which is very very impressive. He's throwing in a lot tighter windows than any quarterback in the NFL.

Ask Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson i know Jimmy is better than both but even if we win the SB, unless Jimmy himself is winning these games the same way a top 5-10 qb is, he's gone. That means not just being efficient and very good on Third downs but also putting the team on his back and making tons of plays
If Jimmy wins a SuperBowl, then we must resign him and have a good problem. BAL players will be the first to say that there team wasn't the same after Dilfer left. Sometimes, you don't mess a good thing up.

Im sure it will be easier to figure it out if we have two QBs than just one QB with little experience.

That'd be really nice to see happen.
After he got emasculated by shanny upon nearly throwing a pick in the Vikings playoff game, he's probably secretly itching for a huge air game to show his stones against them.
But honestly, if the running game is on point and Jimmy hits 180 yards with no picks and a win, he'll be the happiest guy in town.
No one is going to trade for Jimmy next year.

1-We´re gonna make the playoffs this year with Jimmy.
2-They want a 1st rounder for him.
3-He is going to be under a 1-year/25M contract for his next team.
4-Watson, Rodgers and Wilson are gonna be available.
5-Jimmy is going to be the 4th option of a team trying to trade for a veteran QB.
6-A team that missed on the first 3 options is going to decide that spending its 1st round pick on a rookie QB is better than getting Jimmy for that 1st.

Jimmy is going to be our starting QB next season and we´ll waste the first 2 years of Trey´s rookie contract

I don't think Jimmy is staying unless it's for 2nd tier or backup money. We have Bosa and Debo to re-sign ? I'm choosing those two over Jimmy G.

Watson Rodgers and Wilson all have NTCs. Jimmy's ends before the new league year. Could be upwards of 8 teams needing an upgrade with no real impact rookies in this QB group.

I hope you´re freaking right because I don´t want to see our Shanahan´s O being "carried" by a game-manager that only can throw to the middle of the field.

lol relax. What do you expect Shanahan to say when asked about this? "Nah Jimmy can kick rocks after the season ends". There is minute possibility that Jimmy wins SB MVP and they will have to assess whether Lance is ready to hit the ground running in week 1 next year, but its not going to happen.

Id guess that we sneak into the playoffs and get bounced in the first or second round, and Lance is ready to take over in 2022.

They aren't playing Lance right now because they don't have to. He's taking this year to learn the playbook, and learn how to be a pro.

I agree.
As of right now, he's 21 years of age. A ton of guys at age 21 are still preparing for the draft. I think one or two years on the bench will help Trey and the 49ers more than it will hurt Trey and the 49ers.

Did I say they haven't been. Wanna make a $1 side bet Jimmy is gone when this season over?

Jed's public comments after the draft prove that the possibility of bringing Jimmy back in 2022 has already been discussed and approved by ownership. not sure what to tell ya.

I think he comes back, only if the 49ers win a super bowl, which (currently without Kinlaw, Verett, Mostert etc...) in my mind is very unlikely. I think the 49ers make it into the playoffs and get knocked out before the Super Bowl. That should get the 49ers some good draft capital for Jimmy. I leave it to the draft nerds to figure out the trade value, but I'd love it if we get two number 2 picks or a number one pick and some change.

Oh snap. Well, Jed did originally say 2 to 3 years.

Can we make a poll about Jimmy's eventual trade compensation, salary on new team, and whether or not he's a 49er in 2022 and have everyone who's wrong be publicly shamed?

Sure why not. It's the NFL...things can change on a dime.

It would be interesting what the poll would say.
