Kyle only likes to highlight one receiver at a time. Pettis after the bye-week. BA last year, Sanders after the trade, Deebo, Kittle in 2019, etc.
I'm not going to fault him last game for only highlighting Deebo and Mitchell. Both got their 100 yards.

There's guys wide open all the time, but Jimmy chooses to throw into quadruple coverage and locks onto Deebo every f**king time. Is that Kyle's fault?
You give Kyle Shanahan someone like Aaron Rodgers or Watson, of course he'll be regarded as a good coach. Coaches mean absolute jack s**t without a good quarterback. Look at Pete Carroll last night. He was pathetic.
The fact that people think Matt LaFleur is a good coach is the biggest joke. He might seem like a nice guy, but come on man. If he was starting Jordan Love instead of Rodgers, he'd be a loser head coach too.
Yeah, I am critical of Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch. But that is mostly because they have refused to address the Quarterback situation after 5 f**king years. That's a personnel problem.
Are there guys open all the time? Because most of the non-emotionally invested analysts (I.E. Cossell, Baldy, etc.) imply the opposite, that receivers are having a hard time getting separation. 2 weeks ago when Trey Lance was starting, suddenly the media and fanbase recognized that receivers weren't open, but now this week it's back to Jimmy's fault.
Does Kyle control him like some kind of robot? No. But he can train him and tell him the way to execute his offense.
Jimmy can go deep if asked to. He was successful 61% of the time when he tried to in 2019, which was good for #1 in the NFL. He clinched the division for the 49ers with a deep bomb on 3rd and 16 to Emmanuel Sanders against the Rams. The play that made everyone get tight in the pants for Trey Lance in the pre-season was basically Jimmy's entire 2019.
The final Jimmy play on Sunday night where he missed Sanu is a bad play on Jimmy, 100%. That individual play was not the fault of Kyle. It was not the fault of Deebo. That play was 100% on Jimmy.
Not every play that has been missed this year has been 100% on Jimmy.
But he's been given literally 0 margin for error, so that play on Sunday night that was 100% on Jimmy is now being used for a whole new revisionist history that this has been what Jimmy has been the entire time he's been here.
I'm not arguing that Jimmy shouldn't be replaced. Drafting a QB given the injury history was prudent.
I'm saying that the methods used to replace Jimmy are emblematic of the larger problem, which is going to exist even when Jimmy is gone, off this roster, and merely a figment of our memories of 2019.
Not sure why this is a controversial take when even with Trey Lance *in* Kyle's playcalling has been suspect and heavily criticized. Not sure why it's okay to hold gameplanning under a microscope when it's Trey in the game, but when it's Jimmy, criticizing the gameplanning and strategic decisions is compared to "controlling Jimmy like a robot"
That post was not meant to be a Trey Lance defense. I don't even know what to think of Lance. And probably will not know anything until 2 years.
And with Jimmy. Frankly, I just don't give a s**t about 2019 anymore. No one cares anymore about his stats from two years ago or those 2017 games. The fact is, he has played like absolute dog s**t in 2021. I struggle to even think of a starting quarterback that has played worse than him this year? Even Jared Goff is playing better.
I am at the point right now where I'd rather the Niners trade for Gardner Minshew than starting Jimmy right now if they really don't want to start Lance. Just put Lance on season ending IR, redshirt him, and move on. FFS.
Yes, 0 margin of error. Of course there is. They're losing games right now, and the season is spiraling out of control.

JG coming back to his home state and also coming off a rough performance on SNF...really hoping he puts together a very good game from start to finish this Sunday vs. the Bears. This team needs it in the worst of ways. Let's see if he can respond and play well...let's see if the team can put together a good game in all three phases.

Screw it +2. Garoppolo was winging it some and ad-libbing in his first-ever game starting at QB for the Niners in Chicago...played pretty well that day all things considered.

agree - we are in a complete offensive funk across the board, jimmy, the line, the wrs, KYLE. maybe make things simpler - spread em out + motion to create simpler pre and post snap reads and see what jimmy can do - let him audible in and out of runs depending on the defense

He'll be throwing 4 Ints per game using that game plan.

I don't think we have a choice but to root for him. There isn't anyone else.

It's almost as if winning and losing is a reflection of the team and shouldnt be assigned to the QB. Who would have thought?
