Trust with doing what?

Being around his wife probably.

I'm sure there language in his contract to void the whole thing if something like that happened. Pats wasted no time in voiding Aaron Hernandez's new deal

Ya you sound like a big jimmy fan lol

I was gonna say lol. The whole idea of "Kyle doesn't trust Jimmy" is so strange. How egotistical do you have to be to think you can get into the mind of a genius NFL head coach and have any idea about his thoughts and feelings on his QB and level of trust in him? Comedy.

What gets me is "Matty Ice or Sam Darnold."

I get that the Jets suck and so maybe Darnold really isn't very good or maybe he does better with a better team. But even mentioning Darnold is kind of like 9moon and his Rosen love affair. I never expected Darnold to be particularly great to start with. I thought he might be okay. I thought much like another Jet/USC QB he probably should have stayed in school. I honestly am trying to think of QB's who were highly drafted/struggled, got traded, and became good. There are probably some but I really can't think of a one other than Steve Young and he wasn't even a starter. I guess with the same team Vinny Testaverde went from looking like a total bust to having a decent NFL career. But I don't recall if he was traded and it took time and some years for him to become an acceptable/decent starting QB. A lot of these guys, probably most of them, they flop they flop. Alex Smith wound up being a decent to really good QB as we know in KC. But that started to happen here before that trade did when he led us to the NFC Championship game the year before Kap.

Still don't get the Matt Ryan stuff either. I mean I do, and he's fine. But people act like he's going to be an answer and I still go back to that Super Bowl that Kyle also gets blamed for. He gets blamed because he abandoned the run. Who was throwing the ball? Matt Ryan. And he "trusted" Ryan because he had arguably the best WR in football at the time to throw to. Plus a still productive Sanu among other guys.

Yeah....Shanny doesn't trust Jimmy G he GOES FOR 4th DOWN with jimmy passing in a clutch situation that if we failed we could of easily lost the game right there. Perfect throw (No niners TD and Rams get the ball close to midfield)

Btw in case some of you forget our pass pro is garbage, we have a backup T playing guard and a guard playing backup C.

Then again consistently being THE BEST in the nfl on third and fourth downs with bad pass protection and not reliable wrs is a really good reason NOT to trust our qb. You guys crack me up. So short sighted

Matt Ryan sucks if he can't get it done with the best wrs in the nfl or top 3 at a minimum. He chokes way too often, throws ints under pressure and takes crucial sacks more than Dak. With a great offense around him. I can't even imagine Jimmy G with their pass pro and elite wrs and a good rb. Stop with the Matty ice comments. Last time I checked it was him taking that sack that got them out of fg range on third down in the SB. That would of made the game 9 points and the Pats and Brady lose. Come on people

Good post. Some of these posters are definitely short sighted...either that or they just don't know football and what you mention here is way over their heads.

People still playing the Shanny doesn't trust Jimmy garbage narrative? Cute.

Does Kyle believe Jimmy is Joe Montana and Tom Brady put together and upgraded? Of course not. He understands Jimmy has limitations and isn't an elite QB who can do very little wrong. It doesn't mean he doesn't trust the guy. For crying out loud this is the same coach who trusts CJ Beathard.

Jimmy has enough on his resume to show that he keeps us in games. That's what Kyle wants. Does it mean Jimmy won't make mistakes? Just like any other player/QB the answer is of course.

Some of those mistakes will not be as bad and others will drive Kyle mad because of what could've been.

It would be the same for any other QB. But thinking Kyle doesn't trust Jimmy to run his offense is just a stupid narrative fueled by our great running effort in last year's playoffs.

Most people just repeat what the Talking Heads on TV say.
In no way shape or form am I advocating for Sam Darnold or Matt Ryan to come in and replace Jimmy. Easy pass for me. I just find it funny that the same people who constantly make excuses for Jimmy have no problem judging other QBs without factoring in the excuses for them. If our team was the Jets, the plethora of excuses Sam Darnold would be getting on this board would dwarf the ones that you give Jimmy. But because its not our team, Darnold just sucks.

I don't think Darnold sucks as much as you think, crap head coach, no running game, O-line sucks, who the f**k is his TE and does he even know he has one, defense vanishes after the 1st quarter.

Right now I don't think Darnold has anything going right for him. I would take Darnold as the #2 QB in a heartbeat and possibly to take over for Jimmy G..

Sorry to derail this thread but its a sad story in NY right now.

Oh I personally dont think he sucks. I think he is slightly injury prone, which is a problem. But he hasnt been able to develop on that dumpster fire of a team. Everything about his situation is awful. So with that said, he is difficult to evaluate. I have watched one Jets game this year (ours), and I audibly said wow great throw 2 or 3 times in that game. Sad to say, but thats more than I have said it for Jimmy this whole season.

But the question about Darnold is whether or not he will still be able to develop or if the Jets have damaged him too much. I think he had high or even top end talent/potential coming into the league. But who knows if he will ever get there. Hope he can bounce from the Jets before he is permanently damaged, if he isnt at that point already.

A little emotional there. Trust is a relative term.

There's no sense in arguing about whether he does or doesn't trust him without more specific references.

Which is why I ask "Trust him with what?"

Example: He'll never be trusted by Shanahan to engineer a comeback or a drive against a great defense like he's Joe Montana or Tom Brady or anything. But he trusts him to be the main QB once he's had a look at QB2 and QB3 in live action by now.

You don't have to give a guy the security code to your house to "trust" him.
