Uh oh. According to Kevin Jones there's a problem with Jimmy.

If they didn't have a nod-nod-wink-wink about what the contract terms would be, they should have never traded for him. So the FIRST of our 2 second rounders in 2018 was for the RIGHTS to sign JG to a contract. If he's asking for too much, what's the market for him? We are "open to trading him?" Wow makes you wonder WTF ShanaLynch was thinking giving the risk involved here. This is only a win if another team wants to give them a BOATLOAD of picks. Browns or Jets - but both regimes understand 49ers do not have leverage anymore if their new toy is demanding too much cheddar.

Recently fired Kevin Jones? Meh.
At least he didn't suck today.
With the Adam Schefter bomb today, makes it even more definite that Jimmy G will play this upcoming Sunday. Thankfully, ShannyLynch are not 100% blindly putting their loyalty in Jimmy G. Need to see him play.

Not necessarily. For the sake of discussion, you could in theory tag him and still go for a top QB in this coming draft and let things play out in camp. That way, you wouldn't have to wait another season to draft a QB just in case Garoppolo doesn't pan out.

If we take Rosen or Jackson in the draft there's no competition. We moved on from Jimmy. It's Rivers, Brees. It doesn't matter what Jimmy does you drafted a top pick to be your guy. Teams wait for him to hit the market opposed to trading for someone the 49ers gave up on.
He's not playing behind this current line.
For those of you who are shocked that Jimmy Garoppolo isn't playing, C.J. Beathard was hit 16 times today.

16.
Oh god I'm terrified for JG behind this line!
Did anyone see the look on his face when it looked like Beathard might have hurt his hand? He definitely did not want to come into the game.

It sounds like a lot of conjecture by Schefter. The 49ers COULD trade Garoppolo, or they COULD keep him or he COULD retire and open up his own chain of Slick Jimmy's pizza buffets. I think ultimately a long term deal gets done that is satisfactory to both parties.

Yeah Schefter's reporting is all over the place on this one.

The report stems from the same initial "report" that has been circulating this morning. So there's nothing new here.

I don't think the 49ers would give up a high 2nd round pick on Jimmy G only to flip it 4 months later for a "potential" haul. Shanahan and Lynch would ruin all credibility with player relations with that type of move. Additionally, they made the move as an indication they don't really like any of the draft prospects coming out in 2018.

Lastly, the beautiful thing about getting him early is to learn the playbook. That way, he'll be a leader in the offseason vs. digesting a playbook in a span of 2.5 months before pre-season.

Exactly.
Let C.J. play against the Giants and then bring in the new toy after the bye.
