Regardless, I'm guessing something gets done that's reasonable for both sides or he gets tagged.

No but he is well regarded across the league. Just like with Cousins, it'd be rare to see a guy like Garoppolo hit the free agent market. With the way QB salaries are going, I can see him clearing $20 million easy, especially considering who his agent is.

Isnt the franchise tag around 20 mil? If so, why would he accept anything less than that?

It would be $23 million. His agent will probably be looking for around $40 to $50 million in guaranteed money.

What team is gonna pay him $20+ million a yr? Just because your a qb and up for a contract doesn't mean you automatically get top 5 money lol...especially if you have 2 starts under your belt.

I get the value of the position but at some point results are what get you paid.

If I'm jimmy G I'm asking for a shorter deal if I'm not gonna get as much guaranteed money as I want. He's got a chance to get multiple contract through tour his career BUT dude needs to realize that SF needs to pay for other players that will make him better thus getting paid more.

not if we play him and he ain't good,

This year? In a system he doesn't know? If we're that impatient and stupid, somebody won't be. I don't think we will be.

Brady has the luxury of having made a whole lot of money earlier on in his career and being married to a supermodel who is worth even more than he is. I wouldn't consider that a normal template for other QBs.

Jimmy G has a chance to make a buttload of money he's only 26 and if he plays well can very easily get multiple contracts over the next 10 yrs. it's not just football money either, dude plays well (with the help of a good team) he's making lots of cash marketing himself. Just like Brady and guys like Gronk/OBj/Manning do.

He could also get paid top 5 money and hurt the team at getting overal talent and flame out in a couple yrs as well....if he wants to roll to a team like the browns and get $20+ million, suck and be a backup the rest of his career that's cool.

I think him and his agent need to be smart about it that's all

And we can still front load the contract, as that lowers the total contract price.

Because players like security and more guaranteed money

To see Garoppolo get his face kicked in too and start hearing footsteps before this team is ever able to build an OL? Not so much.

The Cards love to blitz and this patchwork OL is going to have their hands full all game.

No one is hoping he gets hurt.

I think the leash is short today. It could just be something like he got the wind knocked out of him and in comes Jimmy.

I'm being an irrational fan. This year has been disgusting. At least it'll be exciting. Our coach/gm have him in uniform for a reason. They're disgusted like I am

Didn't mean it like that. I feel bad for poor cj. He got screwed. But hard to watch another week of nonfunction on offense.
