That's the smart move. You Kap him. We'll play you when you take care of these contract issues.

I like getting Garrapolo, but I don't like the way he fo is playing it, like he is the guy to turn it around. Come on. I think it sounds a little scared.

Honestly I don't think he should even start with the oline the way it is, the playbook being so new.

sit him for two weeks, then see how they practice, cj and jg, and if jg looks better, work him into the second half of garbage games. maybe start week 12 or so.

if you put him in as full time start week 9:

1) he wiull get mauled;
2) has no one to throw to;
3) will only run 1/4 the playbook,

I didn't like the presser. made the FO look like they didnt have a plan, trying to anoint a saviour. Don't rush it. sign him to an extension, that's the only real goal for this season for us and jg.

I specifically remember them saying they were not trying to save their season and they were not going to rush him in. They did say they believe he could be the guy.

I think someone in the building overheard a member of 49ers management say if Jimmy G doesn't play well they could tag and trade, worst case scenario. Then someone ran to the media and it's starting to gain some attention. I don't see much coming from this. They scouted him and wouldn't have traded a 2nd if they didn't truly believe he was the guy.
Wouldn't surprise me if Kyle or John can me out this coming week and say there's nothing to that story.

That's a safe assumption about every player on every roster in the NFL

They are in good position regardless of the outcome. You start Jimmy G for the last 6 games. See where he's at. If he falls on his face you cut bait and have a high draft pick or plenty of cap space to go get Cousins. If he plays decent, you tag him and make him show you he can do it for a whole year. If he does you sign him. If he doesn't you gather draft picks and look to FA and the draft. I think it would be a mistake to throw all our eggs in one basket. Take your time admit when your wrong and build the team right. If we want a franchise qb were going to have to pay. Use that damn cap space for once.

No.

There is no way to "see where he's at" this year, as there is no way he becomes comfortable in this complex offense that soon. Seeing where he's at will be seeing how quickly he is learning it, and you can even do that in practice. Jimmy Garoppolo is not going to feel comfortable being tested this soon when he will clearly not feel he can run this offense like he will be able to later, and with this team? Geez. To do so will show him you are not fair.

The decision to sign him was made when we made the trade. Just do it. He has a high floor, and he has Shanahan. We need to give everybody the feeling this is a partnership, we're in it together, and we're going to work to make it successful. It's a team, and he's on the team.

People here want to screw this up. I hope and think Kyle and John have other ideas.

he holds the niner management responsible and questions the all is rosy outlook with a 0-8 team and that is unlawful. i will just say i agree with grants assessment of the supporting cast around jimmy and if i were jimmy i would dang make sure i get some promises . the team will upgrade the horrid o line. run game and wide out game before i sign anything.

You need a promise for that? Who wouldn't do that? It would take somebody a lot dumber than Lynch and Shanahan.

Working with him for eight weeks will give them a chance to evaluate enough to determine the need to use a high draft pick on the QB position. I would still like to see them have three QBs on the roster and if two are on rookie contracts it wouldn't hurt the team budget.
Looks like they might not sign him to a long term deal. I had a bad feeling about this happening.....

I don't buy them not signing him long term. Schefter is just giving a long shot possibility.

The Niners are simply keeping all options open. Why wouldn't they?
