You cannot be for real right?
Has to be trolling. I refuse to believe anyone is this delusional.
The guy was traded to us mid week. Totally different offense. You want to throw him out there to see how he does? He'll do poorly, very poorly.
Thankfully our coaches aren't morons and won't be doing that.

No coach that lead a team to 0-16 should feel like he has job security.

What exactly would Kyle gain from playing him that he already doesn't know?
That line of thinking could apply to any game going forward. Kyle doesn't know how JG will play outside of the Pats system and the sooner we find out the better. The more game experience Jimmy has this season, the more data points we have on him and the better we're able to evaluate if we should sign him to a long term contract or let him walk. If Jimmy can't at least give some impression that he could be a worthy franchise QB this season, should we really franchise or sign him for the next 5 years? That doesn't mean he needs to ball out in every game, but it isn't unrealistic to expect an upward trend as he gets more familiar with that offense. Not starting him this season at all would force us to make an expensive decision on him without taking advantage of our opportunity to see if he is worth it.

Do you seriously not understand how not knowing the offense impacts a QB? That's not even considering how bad the OL is right now and the fact that we lost our best receiver for the year?
Throwing him out there this week does nothing to show the team or the fans what Jimmy could be. What it does is basically throw him to the wolves and essentially ask him to fail.

If it would be so damaging to him to play this week, they wouldn't have him be active and the only other QB on the roster.

Well there has only been 1 other 0-16 team in league history, so you're either the best one ever or the worst one ever.

Once again there's a difference in wanting to play him and needing to play him.
If CJ gets hurt Jimmy would go in but the offense would change drastically. Obviously they feel that bringing up McMullens off the PS isn't worth the roster spot. I'm sure if we were healthier we'd bring in a 3rd QB but since we've got guys hurting all over the place and have to bring in free agents off the street we need all the roster spots we can save.
Basically CJ is our Tom Brady right now...in that we need him to stay healthy so the backup can stay on the bench.

Gotta Gotta Gotta kick the tires on Garoppolo before giving him the big buck long term contract. In that sense, the earlier we play him, the better. If he doesn't work out, there's still Cousin or draft. Sitting for the season is idiotic.
