Good s**t

pretty much reiterating the EXACT same thing thl already wrote in his breakdown. awesome.

Good stuff from the old 49er QB

Yup. Look at Garland get repeatedly walked back into Garoppolo's face, causing the others to collapse down and essentially make the pocket become non-existent.

So i guess richburg aint that bad
A lot of good qbs had an off year following ACL surgery. Between the effect of that, the fact he only has 10 starts and the team being terrible at pass protection, it could be a rough year for Jimmy.

Dude has been put in a terrible situation.
I think the point of Garoppolo not having game experience is huge. He's been in the league a while but has played only 10 games. You JUST. CAN'T. LEARN. Enough of what works vs. what doesn't in that span of time. Jimmy could be elite but it could be another year or two before we start seeing his full potential.

It sucks, as Shanny said, that he could get those reps last year so he could click with the new weapons we have now. There's not much we can do to accelerate the process, it just has to happen. Keep him healthy, build our weak areas, and hopefully he's grown enough for us to start really contending in 2020 and beyond.

This year, we may get back on our defense and Jimmy's above average abilities alone, despite inexperience. But making the playoffs still is a big challenge and uphill battle.
There were 5 culprits in Jimmy's NFL PS opener Flop.

1 . First and foremost., was unquestionably the OL. And not just the interiors, either, altho they were horrid. OTs didn't shine either.

2. Chubb, Harris and von mIller. ...those guys all came with everything they have and all 3 are likely all pros this yr. Against our 1s they were terrors.

3. Kyle...for not foreseeing #2. He knew those 3 guys (assuming Von M played) would bring the heat. So, instead of showing how well he can scheme ,he should have been thinking, "get the ball out ASAP, and faster than FAST" ...or JG was going to get clobbered. HC has as much liability here as anybody.

4. JL + Kyle for not having better talent on the interior OL. We went WRs instead of OGs(Risner) and that was by choice. Protecting your QB is more important. I know, i know, Hurd and Deebo were supposed to make up for no interior OL starters, and get open quick. Well, that didn't happen. Chub , Harris and VON m. Were a lot faster than Debo and Hurd.

5. Finally jimmy. After the first two plays, he should have come to sideline and said, "Coach, we need quick hitters, as DEN big 3 are killing us and they are fast as greased lightning. His hesitation, slowness in getting ball out, uncertainty...really kyle should have anticipated all those things and should have called plays accordingly. Like 3 or 4 running plays wouldn't have been a bad idea. But calling for plays that take a while to open up? Bad idea. Oh, and yes, jimmy was rusty. A better idea might have been to play him against the DEN 2s. It would have built up his confidence as our 2s and 3s were way better than DEN.

I would push for Kyle NOT starting JG, and instead bringing him in against the opponent's 2s on Sat. I know it wont' happen that way, but i really think it should. Get him acclimated. Then start him. Just not on Saturday. Get him PT against the 2s, not the 1s. Just for one week.

it's not even that... 2 plays where there was literally a free untouched rusher charging right at him. ridiculous.
We know what we saw from the beginning with JG. He's a good QB and will do well.

This experience was good for him.

The performance of the OL at the start of the regular season will be much improved and will bear little relationship to what we see now.

The same is true for the playcalling.
^^^true, true and true.

I think Jimmy should just play long enough where he is playing against 2s also. I thought Shanny made a really poor decision to not have Jimmy continue to play after the 6 passing attempts, and would have given him more opportunity to shake the rust off. The fact we are 1 preseason game away for Jimmy until the real bullets start flying, and he has had so little playing time since the injury is concerning to me.

I agree.

But maybe Shanny pulled him because he looked so bad. As if he thought this dude is not ready.

To me, that is the only explanation. Because the only excuse that I have heard as to why he shouldnt have stayed out there (that it would be irresponsible to let him continue to play when the line couldnt block for him), I dont really buy because Chubb, Von and friends werent going to be in the game much longer.

The only way to combat rust is to keep playing. So your idea may have some merit.
Great. The 49ers have a Qb who cant play the position, but we also have an online who cant block. This team refused to upgrade the interior of this line and it shows. If the line is as good as the cowboys line and if jimmy g could retuen to 2017 form, this team would be playoff bound. (They could be super bowl bound if saleh wasnt coaching the defense and if bosa wasnt such a b***h)

playing jimmy against 2's and scrubs is dumb, hes not gonna play a whole lineup of 2's and scrubs come week 1 and beyond. You start him obviously and if KC sits their starters out and you still want him playing then i'll have no issue with that

he should have played more. he needs it. the worry about getting hurt is not as great as the need for jimmy to get some work in.

Got to love preseason panic. How is Bosa a b**h? Sounds like you are.
