I'm more concerned with Jimmys footwork than his stat line.

This

What about his footwork? Half his throws, he didn't have any space to step into because the blitzer was hitting him.

Looked slow, not on the balls of his feet, not stepping up into a pocket. Things like that. I think it's probably a non factor though just like his stat line last night.

I'm all for criticizing when it's warranted but was there really much of a pocket to step up into? I certainly don't want him making that near pick 6 type of throw if he can't laser it in there(would actually prefer he see the DB in the area and throw the ball away).

i think he couldve slide around. he looked very stiff regardless

Sure but how much do you want him sliding around against that DL with 2 starters missing on the OL in a game that means nothing?

Didn't we just discuss how he should learn to protect himself and live to play another down? Let's not change the narrative now just because we didn't like the result in a preseason game.

whats wrong with him avoiding contact better by moving around in the pocket instead of just standing there like a rusty statue?
im looking at it as he didnt slide around in the pocket because he was hesitant to do so or not confident in his knee full yet during a real game. i dont want to see that, i want to see him comfortable moving around. but the coaching staff needs to call better plays to allow him to do that too

Mobile QBs tend to get injured more. I took your comment to imply you wanted him to start rolling out or escaping the pocket to buy time, something he's done frequently in games that count.

And as I said before he didn't exactly have a ton of room to move around in the pocket.

Last night, JG was bad.

The "good news" is that Denver's defense is going to be top 5 this year. They have speed, strength, and depth, and one of the very best defensive minds in Vic Fangio. A lot of offenses are going to struggle against the Broncos.

Lord Fangio was not about to let his defense get taken advantage of by the team that shunned him for the HC job a few years ago. Hence, he was going to come after Jimmy from the get go...and he did. It wasn't business. It was personal. Mission accomplished.

I'm good with the comparison...

Let's not forget how Animal House ended for Mr. Blutarsky...

Got the babe and became a US Senator.

So in the great words of Bluto "Was it over when the Broncos bombed Pearl Harbor!?"

It wasn't...and this isn't the end for Jimmy.

no but shanny could call some bootlegs just to make him feel comfortable running off of play-action in a live game again

What did I say about his stat line in the post?

C'mon man, that's the most hater comment ever. No coach has ever actually believed that. Many will be confident in their chess game abilities but they still know it's all about execution by the players on the field. That's why Walsh, Holmgren and Shanny sr were absolute sticklers about every last detail of every play. Because for things to work later, they have to work now. When that happens, it's unstoppable. But they never expect themselves to just, "wow" everybody.

Also, what have teams done to, "adjust" to Kyle's system? For real? I want to know. You guys act like this was an actual game with a game-plan and scripted plays. It wasn't. We didn't even see Jimmy run a bootleg slide concept which is a staple of this offense. It looked like we ran 2 of the oldest concepts in the game just to get some simple reads going. We ran a couple china concepts and a slant/flat. I couldn't see what the other batted pass was, but it wasn't like we were running the kinds of plays Shanny is so great at. Why show that stuff in pre-season? No point. You can work on it in practice just as easily.
you are right. there is no fancy dancy adjustment to kyles so called system... the other teams defense just does a pass rush and we fold. if you are not concerned about our pass protection. you are just whistling past the end zone my friend. and yes,, last year we saw teams do the adjustments and we come out stumbling in the second half of games. as if we are stunned other teams figured us out. thus all the losses. thus unable to win on the road.. then you thrown in our team was not ready to play many games last year. which is totally on your coach

This is classic CC deflection off what he said. You said Kyle thinks he can just wow people and that other teams won't adjust. I said nothing about not being concerned about pass protection. Really. Not. One. Word.

You're talking in such generalizations you sound like Cohn. "last year we saw teams do the adjustments and we come out stumbling in the second half of games." Go watch the KC game and tell me the same thing.

Football is constant, punch, counter-punch. "As if we are stunned other teams figured us out." LOLOLOLOL. C'mon, it wasn't like we were running Chip Kelly's playbook where he only had 75 plays and only ran 20 per game. For real, I actually kept a playbook of Chip Kelly's time here, I drew out all the plays and he only ran 75 different plays all year. Shanny has well over 300 plays and adjustments in those plays. I've watched the games and when we struggled containing a pass rusher, guess what we'd do. We'd start chipping with a TE or RB or keep a TE in to block or run play-action on an outside receiver sweep to get a DE to stem outside. But no, you're right, because you say we didn't make any adjustments it must mean we didn't.

Just because there are other factors besides the play-calling happening doesn't mean the coach didn't make adjustments. I don't think you realize how stupid you're calling Kyle if he weren't to make adjustments. That's the kind of crap Jim Hostler did. If you can't see the difference between Kyle and Hostler.......maybe we need to have you evaluated.

post of the year
Maybe ask Mitch if he can throw as well as he punts?

nothing. im just clarifying that's why I bring up play-action or any type of play that requires him to move despite play-action being called for the other QB's.

Idk if he can throw but we are certainly doing some fakes this year.

Yeah, it'll be fun to watch him get INVOLVED.
It's not the stat line that's a concern...it's the body language and execution.

Yes, it was his first action since the injury, but wow this guy looked scared, confused, desperate, and void of confidence. The exact opposite of the qualities that him this big contract.

Then again, Jimmy G always came into zero pressure situations--be it replacing Brady, or coming to an awful 49ers team out of contention with no expectations for success.

This year, he's under immense pressure. And last night--even in what should have been a no-pressure preseason game--he crumbled under it.

Let's see what happens in KC and week 1, but not a good first sign. And let's not discount the offensive line's role in this. But he may have to just deal with that, because the line is what it is unless Richburg comes back in time for week 1
Given the rust on JG it wasn't shocking to see that abysmal performance.
He looked like a rookie. Every pass he threw was off his back leg and He never stepped up in the pocket. Horrible mechanics.

But there is time to rebound.
