Agree, Giedi . I just don't see it. Kid has a cannon for an arm, runs like a deer on amphetamines...but the 3 games I saw of him this yr, one my HORNS beat OU, and Murray did not stand out. Then in the conference title game, murray ran all over us. The catch was the HORNS were just not very good this yr, despite improving from last few yrs. Then when OU got eliminated in higher elimination games, again, he was ok, but just didn't light me up.

For a guy like that to go #1 overall...esp after AZ burned draft picks last yr to get their Qb, and then again go QB...they shoulda kept Rosen. Maybe try to protect their qB? He is spectacular. Problem is now he will have guys who are 8-10 inches taller and 50 lbs heavier, who can run with him. Certainly will tip my hat to him if he is a star, but I don't see it.

Just glad we didn't make that mistake.

Good thing 49ers signed Jimmy when they did.

Ya no kidding. If he fails, we're not on the hook after this season and if he balls out, we have him under contract for 3 more years.

QB contracts are flat out getting ridiculous.

Jimmy's contract will be one of the best soon, people just don't get the market for QB's. There was so much crying here by a lot of posters.
There is no doubt in my mind if Jimmy stays healthy he's having a terrific season and that's with the growing pains of coming off a knee injury...which even for QBs takes 2 years.

Not to mention there are outs before the contract is up, if he looks like a bust. Paraag is the real MVP.

It's the same with Ford's. The new game is now being the first one to up the contract for a position early in the off-season since most others will then have to match or increase. Ford got his then you saw every pass rusher after that get more.

It's why it makes sense to get Buckner's deal done sooner than later.

I remember with Jimmy's he was only the highest paid QB for what, 2 months? Then Matt Ryan got his extension which was for 30 APY, then Rodgers got his.

Totally. I wouldn't worry too much about a Paraag contract...ever. We've paid our FQB, LEO and LT and we're still 3rd in cap space. LOL

As to Buckner, the highest mark is already set by Donald and he'll be under that. But outside of those two, is there another DT that's even in their class who could drive the market higher like the QB class if we don't pay him right away?

That's why I hate what's happening in sports and why the average guy can't afford to go to games anymore. Players are judging themselves by how much they make compared to other guys. It sucks because it's a never ending salary escalation that keeps driving up ticket prices. The teams and the league also keep asking for more money from the networks which in turn drives up the cost of TV packages like Directv Sunday ticket. BOHICA guys.
