Of course they haven't seen what we have seen but if these imbeciles just did a little bit of research they'd see that this guy came into a 1-10 team and change the ENTIRE CULTURE. He made every individual around him better even on defense. Just watch one game film and look at those perfect mechanics. This guy is a franchise quarterback all the way around and we got a great deal on him!

These haters don't see that not only did he go 5-0 but he did it with makeshift squad a bunch of unproven rookies, 2nd year & 3rd year players, no superstars whatsoever just a bunch of ok players & he made us look like a promising young squad we looked like a expansion team when Hoyer & Beathard were leading this team. He changed the culture in just a few weeks.

Just wait till he gets some real talent around him its gonna be a scary site for the opposition.

No, this is all for the good. Those not expecting anything but an overpaid QB, are in for the surprise of their lives. Actually the less said now, and letting these fools find out later is way better medicine as far as i'm concerned. But there will be a learning curve on the 49ers and any doubters need nothing more than a u tube review of the Jax game. That said it all, the best D around got turned into cheap hamburger. No... way , way better this way with more than 50% saying , "Jimmy who? aw, c'mon". $137 mil...for a guy who started only 7 games, and only 5 of those were here? The 9ers are crazy. "

yeah, crazy like a fox. This way is way better. And we can't wait to see the surprised looks, the surprised talking heads....man it will be fun. And God help them if John comes thru yet again with 2 OGs, a C, CB, LBs, and especially an ER...we won't get them all but we will get our share. And then, lookout.

That's not what I'm seeing at all. Nearly everybody, nationally and locally, understands that this is the going rate and that he won't even be a top 5 paid QB in two years.

Like i said it's 50-50. The other half GET IT :)

Bottom line, the Hawks are facing an offseason full of question marks and change, while the Niners are becoming relevant again. It's a good time to be a Niners fan in the Pacific NW.

And the fact they havent been passed the 2nd round of the playoffs since his salary went from 800k to 20+ million speaks for itself

Oh this is gunna be a fun season!

I guess it's safe to say I'm going to get a lot of love when I visit Seattle next week with my Niners Jersey.

I read nearly all of the replies since news was first announced yesterday. I only noticed two who disagreed (won't mention names), but they're usually negative anyway, so it's expected.

Everyone else loves the latest signing and it's rare to see Niner Talk on the same page about a player.
In the past, QB threads have been reset when things got crazy. This thread has the potential to reach 10000 pages. I would like to see that.

Same here, refreshing to see all the positive posts, you can't help but feel excited!

A lot have asked about #49ers salary cap. My guess is Jimmy Garoppolo's deal has a front-loaded structure. First-year cap hit is probably in $35M-$40M range. And that would still give team plenty of cap space to accomplish all they set out to do in offseason.

If true, NY9ER85 hit the nail on the head.

He knows what he's talking about. Dang that we could have had Rodgers instead of Alex.

If this deal has a $40M cap hit in year 1 -- we will be in excellent position in future years with minimal relative cap hit.

Possible cap hit structure:

Year 1: $40M
Year 2: $30M
Year 3: $25M
Year 4: $22M
Year 5: $20.5M

Years 3-5 will be on a significant cap hit discount compared to other upper tier QB.

Maybe you missed the part where he said a good GM and coach are what you want.

Would be excellent if Garoppolo's contract has a declining cap hit in an environment with a growing total cap. Realistically, can't have a better situation with a top QB.
