"While Mortensen was the second in Harbaugh's lineage — after Harbaugh guided Rich Gannon to a near-MVP season with the Oakland Raiders in 2002 as a QB coach — every quarterback has played at his highest level under Harbaugh. At San Diego with Josh Johnson, at Stanford with T.C. Ostrander, Tavita Pritchard and Andrew Luck, and the San Francisco 49ers with Alex Smith and Colin Kaepernick. Some of them obviously rose to greater heights, like Luck, but many never had as much success.
That résumé, along with U-M's academic profile for a future doctor, drew Rudock from Iowa to Michigan.
And Rudock has learned to trust Harbaugh's methods. There's not a lot of screaming, but there's enough honesty for a career."
