That's my concern. some formula of dollars committed vs. incentive. Basically, I'm interested if we can manage the risk and preserve dollars.

His speed and performance when on the field is not questioned. Watching him shred a team in the playoffs, incredible.

He's not a one-trick Pony. I didn't have to put in that Green Bay clip. There was plenty of highlights from other games it's just what he does

Hey, I agree with you. That game happens to be the first thing that comes to mind, as it was prolific. I've seen him look really good in many games, and his speed is a total weapon. That being said, there is some to be said for player availability. He's been significantly injured at least twice, and had several occasions being out multiple games. His timeline with us is not enough years to warrant that much injury. RBs, unfortunately, have the lowest lifespan, and I fear he's already a player you can't expect to get more than 25% participation.

That's why I'm saying a contract which is heavily incentive laden would be the way to go with him. This area also happens to be one of our strongest talent development areas. We could look for some burners, although 4.3 speed is rare.

if we match the best offer that's fine. We can be a little generous with this guy.

I think it's almost guaranteed that he leaves for Miami.

Yeah he's from Florida so I expect this to happen.

Buuuuuut the Dolphins did also trade for a Speedy former 9er RB who had one good 9er season.... and the Dolphins didn't end up keeping him after.

I hope they are hesitant with signing Mostert, after that past experience with Matt Breida.

Honestly, it makes so much sense for Mostert to follow McDaniel. McDaniel is specifically credited for his run game, so if there's a guy that's going to utilize Mostert well outside of San Francisco, it's him.

We need Mostert here. If he still cheetah. He and Mitchell need to split carries.

As much as I like Mostert, I think FA priorities will probably mean he leaves. We have several very good RBs, and we need to dedicate our FA dollars elsewhere. I'll be happy for him wherever he goes.

Not good enough RBs. Mostert has Tyreek Hill like speed, you don't let that walk out the door.

Too bad he doesn't have Hill's health history. I would bring him back on a heavily incentivized deal based on games played. Can't rely on him.
One of the best ways to help out Lance is by having a terrific backfield. Eli Mitchell with a healthy Mostert is a dynamic 1-2 punch. Bring Mosterati back on a 1 year incentive laden deal to compliment Mitchell.

You do if he's not durable. Roger Craig wasn't the fastest or most explosive, but he was always available and helped the team win super bowls. As much as I love Mostert's speed. An OLineman can beat him speedwise if he's on the bench or rehabbing.
Although I think mostert wouldn't do as well as 2019 in any other system, we absolutely need to bring him back. He's a great vet presence and his ability to hit a home run from anywhere on the field was sorely missed last season.

Mostert and Mitchell is an excellent backfield.

Bring him back and give him 8-10 carries per game.
I would bring him back on a certain type of deal

Yeah, a one, two punch of Mitchell and Mostert would be deadly.

Both him and Mitchell are injury prone. Mitchell would be better off with a complimentary bruising back in short yard situations. Kind of like Leonard Fournette type…

That'll work - have Mostert be Mitchell's primary back up and find a bruiser for short yardage, to compliment Mitchell.
It's going to come down to 2 things. Does he still have that explosive speed after the injury and how much will it cost to sign him? If he's willing to take a lower base with incentives then they can probably make it work.
