Is this dude the worst agent of all time? Mostert is the one who is (literally) paying for his incompetence.

That agent didn't adequately protect him in this contract. Tried to renegotiate with absolutely zero leverage. Went public. Made things worse for his client. Then has to have his client slowly walk back their stance. Problem is - now it's playing out in public. This could have all been done privately.

Agreed

Lol like I said before,...it was either that or retirement at his age.

I hope he can make a massive turnaround in a contract yr.

FWIW this is the s**t I'm talking about, this was his last yr in ATL when he basically was the lead dog (Freeman was hurt)

https://www.thefalcoholic.com/2018/12/12/18137550/tevin-coleman-48th-in-league-in-yards-after-contact-very-bad-never-breaks-tackles-devonta-freeman

There were literally teams that were gonna give him like 6 or 6.5 mil but okay. Think youre looking way too much into this for some reason. He got paid because he is a dual threat rb. He was banged up and hurt like i said.

He also had 4.8 ypc. 36 First downs, had more ybc than mostert and yac in 2018 when he was fully healthy. Still had 9 touchdowns and still had a 1,000 yard season. I dont know the point youre trying to make here but the man is not avg like you claim him to bem you call him avg yet youre gushing over Mckinnon who wasnt that good before his injury and mostert who had 2 good games in 6 or 7 years.

You keep saying that and yet I haven't seen real proof...if he turned down $6.5M per to play on basically a 1yr deal for $3.5M he's an idiot.

comparing Mostert in 2018 with 34 rushs to Coleman who was given the reins is not debatable bro lol.

I've made a 100 pts on why he's avg. You're one of the only guys in here that doesn't think he is...Bias clearly for some reason.

FWIW I'm not saying Mostert is a rockstar, I do think his skill set is prefect for this scheme. I'm saying Coleman is an avg RB.

I didn't expect anything less.

He's got a point and they've got a point - no reason this can't end on a happy medium.

He does well this year, he'll get his contract redone, if he doesn't do well, and McKinnon, Hastey or Ahmed show some credible promise, he'll be traded.

This is what Mostert should do. Play out his contract this year. Even if he, at the minimum repeats last season's production, teams will start to notice and he will get paid by someone or us, next year more than he will get paid by us this year.

He signed through 2021, I don't see a pay increase in 2020, maybe 2021 to be on par with what Coleman is getting this year.

AGree. But two ways 49ers can go here. (1) tear up his contract and pay him more and extend the contract for another year or two (2) trade him and get some draft compensation for essentially an undrafted free agent - the Breida scenario. I doubt the 49ers would *not* renegotiate/adjust the contract simply because they have him signed through 2021, specially if he does really well this season and he's already said he's not happy with his current contract. He can always hold out if he's not happy despite being signed up to 2021. I think the 49ers will try to avoid the holdout scenario - it's a distraction and not conducive to the team culture of the 49ers. Team culture being -- where you get paid based on your performance and your contribution to the team, and the front office/ownership will take care of you depending on your impact on the team regardless of what's written on the contract.
Cohn LOVES Mostert as much as Dwelley.

Man that is scary, we may not be able to afford to tear up Mostert's contract if he's the next Jim Brown then again, I'm relieved it's Mr. Cone-head. I know he's full of it.

Lol yeah, I mean not to take anything away from Mostert but trying to compare a stat (ypc) when one guy has 74 less carries is misleading to say the least. Then again, I also can't say that his ypc could've increased slightly more +74 carries

The COULDA SHOULA WOULDA been SUPERSTAR just ran his career down the drain by demanding to PAY ME OR TRADE ME... instead of just playing football this year which could have been his BREAK OUT season, he ruined it by his demand.

WITNESS how Shanny uses him on a limited role.
