Probably an unpopular opinion considering how much the fan base loves KB (including me) but I wouldn't extend Bourne right now as it's rumored we're discussing.

Too much young talent at WR to evaluate. We need to see how Aiyuk, Hurd, Taylor perform and if Pettis can bounce back. I'd hate to extend KB and find out that he's our 4th WR making $5M+ per year when we could've spent that money elsewhere.

Because he is a promising young WR whom is a great teammate with a great work ethic, and he can be locked up for "cheap". Mind you, "cheap" being enough money to live your life comfortable and do all the things you wish to in life and more.

Aiyuk has a rookie contract.
Hurd has a rookie contract.
Pettis has a rookie contract.

Pay Bourne and maybe one of those guys sees it as incentive.

The hype is getting unreal. Slow down. Before Samuels got injured, I was betting that Bourne wasn't even going to be on the roster come opening day. Now I believe that they have to keep him as insurance.

Yeah he "outplayed" Taylor. Taylor didn't even play. He outplayed that rock on the sidelines too. A healthy Taylor is leaps and bounds better than Bourne.

Sure he outworks everyone else. Has to. He seems like a fun-loving kid who has benefitted from Shanahan's schemes. Doesn't detract from the fact that the team is in trouble if he's their starter.

Why would you think that? I think the #1 receiver stuff is largerly overstated. But he can definitely turn into a super clutch, no. 3 receiver. I don't see Bourne as a starter, but he certainly has earned a spot on this roster. I figured if anything, he'd be a trade candidate if our other receivers came through because I didn't think we'd be able to afford him longterm. He won't get a big contract, but I just don't see them spending any real money on a number 3 guy.

Hey AB,

How does the contract work for Hurd since he missed his rookie year? It doesn't count as an accrued year and when his contract is up, he will be an RFA, right?

He actually has an accrued season for starting on 53, then on IR, only NFI guys or holdouts lose an accrued season, Kentavius Street is a RFA after 2021 due to NFI in rookie year.
