Extremely slow is a massive overstatement. He has less than a season of play in an offense that takes some of the smartest in the game three years to master. They both looked pretty good in a dumbed down version...that's it. We have seen nothing of Mullins in the version without training wheels and Jimmy was a 2.5 game window against tough opponents when a lot of the offense hadn't come together yet. You are drawing way too much from small sample sizes. They both have a lot to prove, one lost an important season to injury, the other was written off as a late round scrub, but the idea that Jimmy has been slow to develop is a gross overstatement.

No question they still have a lot to prove. Don't be shocked if they are looking at QB's next year if Jimmy can't produce. Nick is a nice backup but he has limitations on the types of throws he can make. If Jimmy stays healthy but looks really average the will start looking at other options. They can't move forward without a top 10 or top 12 QB.

Kyle did find him but it was actually Rich Scangarello who originally brought Mullens to the Niners' attention. He's more responsible for discovering Nick than anybody else.

Unfortunately he was so good, he's the offensive coach for Denver now. Shane Day brought in Wilton, or so I think. And I think that was a good move.

Having said that, you have to give some credit to Kyle for going after BDN when no other team really wanted to draft him.

As for BDN vs GQ. Right now I'm putting PasoDoc's lunch money on GQ. That isn't to say BeatHard doesnt have a chance. He does, but he has to really show it now or he's for sure gone.(or traded)

Do you have some examples of him being extremely slow with going through his progressions? I don't think that was the case. He took a lot of sacks against the Lions, but that seemed like more of a case of no one getting open rather than Garoppolo not going through the progression. Jimmy wasn't the problem with our slow start on offense. It had more to do with McKinnon and Goodwin both getting injured before the season had really even gotten started and injuries on the offensive line.

Jimmy is going to be great this season if he can stay healthy. Unfortunately that's a big if.

Jimmy is going to have a good preseason and a good 4 games into the regular season. I really think he'll have a better command of the system and with greater RB and WR depth, I think even with some dings, this offense should be able to absorb some WR and RB dings and still keep on chugging. I think he'll stay healthy, I doubt if he'll do anything stupid again like trying to get extra yards on a QB scramble.

I don't agree on your assumption that there was a "revamped" offense.
So you not running a handful of plays that Kyle was going to implement.

Did it affect our offense, play calls etc? Did we play the NFC N champs on the road? Yes.

Losing McKinnon I'm sure affected some playcalls but it sure shouldn't have set us back as much as some are thinking. At least it shouldn't have or that's pretty telling in the effectiveness of Kyle's offense, and not in a good way.

The immediate rash of injuries that we took on @ the Vikes that day I think had a way greater effect on the game.

Well, one thing is for sure, Mullens has enjoyed more durability than Jimmy, for what it's worth.
