So much negativity. He's a good dude and we messed up his growth as much as he let us down. Now he gets to play his natural position. I hope he kicks ass.
Only negativity I have is he was a bust, him personally he's a great guy but football wise he was a mistake by Lynch. Horrible mistake.

Agreed. He's a good dude that had some horrible life things happen to him, other than his injury. I wish him the best and hope he plays well for the Silver & Black.
I did want to draft Watson too, but wasn't angry at this pick and most NFL draft gurus had him top 5 at the time.
Thank you! Remember most of us didn't want him because he was redundant to Buckner who we already knew was a gem.
that being said he was a consensus too 5 pick for that draft. Didn't work out for many reasons, but I'll be rooting for him.
Worst mistake by John Lynch, horrible one. I remember 90% of mock drafts had the niners picking this dude but I didn't believe they'd actually do it.
I was all on drafting Jamal Adams with that pick.
Solomon Thomas vs Mahomes and Herbert, lol.

Interestingly I was looking at SPARQ stuff today and Solly had one of the highest SPARQ scores of his draft class and in that 2017 draft class in the 90 something percentile. Kittle was of course the highest in our class.
That doesn't guarantee anything of course but it's not maybe out of the realm that he can be much better somewhere else than he was with us. Doesn't mean he'll live up to his draft status or that it wasn't time to move on though.

Agreed, but he's not trash. We never used him right and he went through hell off the field. This is truly a guy I would love to see succeed.

I'm glad he's gone. He wasted a spot on the 53 for too long. They've let better players walk just because this guy was drafted high. I wish they would have had a quicker trigger finger. I would have been pissed to even see him come back on a vet minimum deal. Just about every d lineman that has come to the team since he was drafted has been better. Good riddance.
Oh yeah but he's a nice guy.

He just didn't fit the system we run. Was a tweener in our system. Not powerful enough to play inside and not quick enough to play edge. It was a bad pick by Lynch. Hopefully they have learned what traits in dlineman are successful in our system and draft players accordingly moving forward. As for Solly best of luck to him with the Raiders.

System had nothing to do with him not being able to win 1 on 1 pass rush situations.

Dude, I really hope (for the Raiders) that the contract is incentive laden.... especially after an ACL year...

The Raiders always seem to end up with players who played for the Niners.

No, hes trash.. they tried using him all over the defensive live. Hes physically weak, isnt quick, has no pass rush ability and has no idea where hes at on the field.
Hes basically a smaller Armstead
