I don't see how jokes are even an option here.

No. Because we all know the name Todd Heap. Therefore it is relevant somehow.

People die every day. Bad things happen to good people we have never heard of all the time.

Too bad for his loss. Pay attention when driving. Just a thought.

How about not post if you are going to throw out garbage like this.

Because I have a different view I should not post. Makes sense.

I agree with John. Wholeheartedly. Reading your post made me shake my head.

The insensitivity of the joke aside - this is indeed how people of previous eras partly dealt with the tragedy of losing a child. When infant mortality was a real risk and children died more commonly at a young age, comfort and emotional strength was often found in having another child.

My grandfather had a younger sister die in a fire at three years old or so. He was 7-8 at the time. His parents had a few more of his siblings soon after (this is in the late 20s, early 30s). That's part of how one survived back then.

BTW, my grandfather eventually became a fireman because of this event. People can often turn sorrowful events into positives, even if the wound leaves a scar.

Because there was absolutely no reason for even making a garbage post like yours. We all know people die every day. but thanks for reminding us. And yes bad things happen to good people we have never heard of. You are a genius arent you for including that as well.

All of that doesnt minimize this particular tragedy.. It is AWFUL and heartbreaking. People with class would simply acknowledge that without somehow trying to question why it is even "relevant"

Losing a kid has to be the hardest thing to deal with, especially at such a young age. I'd probably off myself.

Not sure where you live but its always news when something tragic like this happens. Don't matter who it is. Your last remark is horrible and heartless.

It's unfortunate and tragic for him and his family. Others, as myself, understand that nobody wants to bury their children. But at the same time, it doesn't make somebody heartless or full of love to feel either side of immeasurable grieving or moving forward. Some people move on by going back to the routines, some move on by replacement, some move on by changing emotionally the rest of their lives. Neither is incorrect but all move on differently.

We all move on different ways. If you don't care then don't say anything that is mean and cold hearted. Move on like you said. No reason to be a dick.

If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. Advice that ignored by keyboard warriors.

How is making an insensitive and unnecessary response to this tragedy "moving on"?

Just sad.

Hope he's strong enough to deal with this. Hopefully his family will be there for him. It was an accident and I really hope his wife can forgive and provide strength to him because I believe he will have the hardest time dealing with this.

Holy s**t do I feel terrible for him

last year I tossed my daughter her cell phone while she was laying on the couch, and hit her on the forehead by accident, and I still feel bad about it , I can't imagine what Heap is going through , total heartbreak

A tragedy like this would have definitely make the local news here, most definitely no matter how famous the effected family was. If they were poor the news would broadcast a place to send donations to help with funeral expenses. Almost every accidental death or homicide is covered here especially if it happens to someone young. I live in the Richmond Va coverage area, not sure what happens elsewhere.
is he being tried for murder? how do you say killing someone is an accident and not get in trouble?
