The guy flat out sucks whichever way he wants to cut it. May be he could have played for the Broncos whereby the D might have been able to hide how sh*t he really is. But, if the Texans' D couldn't carry him, then no one can do it in the long run.

The guy's career is pretty much over as a legit starter.

Yup. I think it's safe to say if the QB comes from Montana then stay away. They suck and are huge douchebags. My two examples? Ryan Leaf and Brock.

Brock should have stuck with basketball. He committed to Gonzaga before deciding he wanted to concentrate on football.
Browns paid 16 millions for a 2nd round pick next year on a team who will probably be good so its not like its gonna be a high 2nd round pick. absolutely stupid trade for the Browns

I disagree. If they cant sign any free agents then use the money to get good young players.

Or use their #12+ something or all their #2s to get garrapolo.

Then just before this window closes front load some of their young guys to save space for when you are ready for a big push.

Also if they send 3 or 4 2nd round picks for jimmy g. Then draft a RT at #12. They could have the best Oline in the NFL.

I think if they cut him they owe him $10m - so they've effectively paid $10m for a 2nd round pick if I read it right, also if the Texans use that cap space to land Romo that 2nd round pick could be late on as I would expect them to win the division and make the play-offs... very stupid imo.

You are basically paying $16 million and a 2017 4th round pick for a 2018 2nd and 2017 6th round pick.

The Browns just announced to the world that since they can't even overpay to lure free agents to come there they will use their cap to pay for the rights to players that don't have a say in where they go. Weird. And not good precedent.
I disagree with most of this.

First of all, the notion that the Browns "can't lure free agents" is just simply wrong. The traded for Jamie Collins, and had no problem signing him to a 4-year extension (despite the fact that he would've went to FA). They added the best OL in free agency in Kevin Zeitler. If Collins tested FA, he and Zeitler would've both been 2 of the 10 best players available.

Second of all, it's not a given that they will pay Osweiler $16M. There are already numerous reports that they are trying to trade him. No one will want Osweiler for $16M, but what if they offer to eat his salary? If they say, "hey, we'll pay $9M of his salary this year if you give us a 4th round pick." Is $7M for Brock the worst thing in the world? (In a market where Mike Glennon gets $15M a year, Brian Hoyer gets $9M, Chase Daniels gets $7M, etc) Now you're looking at something like $9M + a 4th for a 2nd, a 6th, and a 4th.

Who says they even draft a player with that 2nd round pick? Maybe they'll package it in a trade for Garoppolo.

I think it is an awesome move for the Browns. Lots of people are just automatically mocking the move because it's the "Browns being the Browns", but I think it's a shrewd move and a clever use of surplus cap space.

I agree , good creativity I must say
Look at that Osweiler. Dude makes $16 million. Then will probably sign a backup contract for $5 million a year.

Man, I wish I had that job.

Jim Tomsula says hi.

The only way this deal makes sense is if the Browns needed that 2nd round pick to trade for Garoppolo. I just don't see how that trade could go through because I can't see Garoppolo willing to play for the Browns.

In other words, this is an absolutely sh*t deal. People talk about it like if it was super clever purely because it hadn't been done before. The winner of this trade is the Texans, they get to unload that POS of a QB plus his contract.

Bottom line is the Browns paid $16 mil and a 4th for a 2nd and a 6th.

Crap deal, bruh (that is unless for some reason they could land Garoppolo which they won't)

who knows , maybe that 2nd rounder will be ours if the Browns offer us a nice package of picks for our #2 , maybe they offer us the #12 overall , a 2nd, two 3rd"s and 4th ...and a 2nd next year , hey , who knows ? , they have the ammo to pull it off ...would you guys take that kind of deal if it was offered??

That is a much more likely scenario. No way will the Browns trade down for Trubisky. They will take Garrett at 1 and trade up from 12 to take Trubisky.

Having said all that, I am not convinced we have totally given up taking a QB high in the draft. So far, Shanny and Lynch have been making very predictable moves, they are yet to surprise us. If they happen to like Trubisky, I wouldn't put it past them that they won't pull the trigger. If we have to wait for Cousins till 2018, 1 year is eternity in the NFL and a lot could change. It makes sense to develop a QB to cover all grounds.

Or may be we give up the 2 pick, trade it to the Browns and let them have Trubisky for a bunch of picks and we take a QB at 12 or later.

Or we simply stay put, take Fournette as BPA and we take a QB at 34.
