Im not comparing their roster to Seattles. I'm talking about scheme. Mike McDonald had his scheme in Baltimore and then he built it in Seattle. The scheme was innovative.
Saleh was the DC in 2019. We had a great defense and all kind of great talent. Buckner, Armstead, Ford, Bosa dline. Warner and Greenlaw at LB. Ward at safety and Sherman at corner.
And yet the scheme wasn't anything special. It was simply get pressure with four with an elite line and play sound on the back end. There wasnt any exotic looks, there wasnt double blitzers, nothing of the sort.
Do you see what Im talking about ? McDonald took the Fangio 3-4 zone scheme that is known for being passive and playing off talent, and made it exotic, unpredictable and scary.
Their scheme is rush 4 ninety percent of the time, control the block, then shed it all while they collapse the pocket.
It is just RAW talent getting it done. Leonard Williams is DOMINANT, Lawrence is Dominant.
I imagine all 4 of their starters would start on every team in the NFL in any scheme.
So like Saleh, it is a good scheme made spectacular due to talent.
