That's the exciting thing with Driskell. Big time size, mobility, big arm and a quick release at that? Physically it's all there. Technical aspects and the mental game in the NFL, you get those up to par and you become a starting caliber player. Accuracy, reads, and decision-making fall under the latter category and a lack of them can nullify your physical traits.

Like all QBs picked that late he is a longshot but if the desire and work ethic is there, if he wants to be great and will put the effort in, he has the tools to make it work. Its all on him and how well he attacks his own weaknesses.

I don't think it is ever about which round in the draft a player was picked. It is all about why they were picked in that round.
For example, tom Brady was picked late because he was considered to be a skinny slow weak wimp. bit he was also a good drop back QB who played well in big games.

Jeff Driskell was drafted late because he only had one good year in college and terrible early years in a crap system. The bright side here is that he throws very well, especially under pressure and can go through progressions.

Honestly, I believe the only reason why teams passed on him is due to his struggle in Florida which sounds alarms that he can't play vs top talent.

In this case, I don't think the 6th round slot means anything.

I wonder if young Jeff will get screwed in preseason if he has Martin/Devey/Pears blocking for him... even against 3rd stringers.

Where as Kap and Blaine might have a combination Starters and Tiller & Thomas...blocking for them, in the early part of the games.

Nah. We finally don't have a dumb offensive system. And most likely, it will be one read and run.

Leads to interesting thought about how Kelly and his staff do the exhibition games. 1 or 2 series for Keap and Blaine with the first teams to start then scrubs to follow? Mix and match? May throw caution and tradition out just to see who can run the offense and include Driskell in with the starters.
Thanks, fellas

I'm not sure if there is any comparison. Driskel has that quick release and is very accurate on the short to intermediate throws. He also stands in the pocket and goes through progressions. He's quick fast as well as distance fast.

Question: other than height, what is the difference between Driskel and Paxton?

Driskel has more in common with Gabbert IMO...including the same propensity for making ill-advised throws and being quick to checkdown.

it can all be addressed and fixed with the better coaches we have this year.

This

He will be superb if he can be 3/4 of Blaine Gabbert. really 3/4 is enough to dominate.
