Just a note on this digression from the subject of this thread (Buckner), but Tunsil strikes me as the Robert Gallery of this draft. Too early to know how he fares in his career, but the teams in the top 7 were fortunate not to have selected him.

Yeah, I'm very excited about both Buckner and Garnett. I entertained Stanley and Conklin too but Garnett is such a perfect fit for Kelly's system. We tried for some T's in FA, were feeling pretty good about Staley and Brown then, Davis talks then...added some competition in Cooper and Theus plus Thomas has experience at T, Pears as a veteran backup, etc. It's not ideal but you can't get everything you want in one draft. We'll hopefully get that blue chipper next draft...unless Brown crushes it.

Agree...building the line is a two or three year process unless you overpay for free agent OLmen.

Staley is a solid element, Kilgore is the next best and will solidify the center position if healthy, so what's next. You can give an OT help by using chip blocks, etc. by the TE or RBs, but you can't really help the middle if guys are not strong enough to stop a bull rush or quick enough to catch a late blitz.

So going after Beadle and Garnett was a great off season for the OL. Add to those two the possibility of Brown developing, Cooper and Theus adding depth will help the line tremendously. If the middle and the left side is solid then they can deal with the right side in various ways until they find the guys who solidify the positions.

My guess is that the OL will also be aided by Kelly using scheme and play calling to back the D off. Last year's offense was extremely disappointing after Hyde went down...everything imploded even though Harris and Draughn looked good. QBs, OL and receivers all looked like JV talent. And that was largely due to play calling and scheme...or lack thereof.

Defense--they needed to replace Willis, Aldon and Justin but couldn't do so in one draft. So taking Buckner was sooooo right! Now they have a very talented DL that will help the LBs tremendously. With the increased talent at DB and DL the LBs may be able to eek through the year until they can find their next Willis and Aldon.

Have to admire the ingenuity though! I hope the guy does well for himself and this was just one of those things that young people do before their brains develop fully!

Buckner IMO was the better prospect all around with out a doubt.

Oh Jesus lol...the reason I was ripping bong masks was because of my brain wasn't fully devloped, no one can just be held accountable for their actions anymore? Yes he's young and dumb and we all made mistakes, but we also weren't top level athletes getting ready to make millions.

I'm not getting into a debate about this in buckner's thread my friend dude is a dummy and dropped because of it, he also had other off field issues and injury issues while Buckner was great on all levels for the most part.

No...he (and all of us) should be held accountable, as the article says--control may be less certain but not everyone is an idiot! My interpretation...LOL!

My choice was always Buckner at #7, ahead of just about any other player unless Kelly thought a dropping QB would be a franchise guy. So glad the chips fell the way they did and neither QB dropped!

Oh I know lol I get fired up way too easy yeah besides the two qbs Buckner was the pick for me. Would have been fine with Stanley but Buckner is a notch ahead of him IMO.
