My best friend is a Rams fan. He was born in 73' and I was born in 83', so I understand why he hates us so much after witnessing all the beatdowns growing up as a kid. We used to fight a lot over this rivalry. I mean big, heated fights. Screaming matches after nights of drinking that almost led to throwing down. I'm glad it never came to that. Now that we are older, we haven't argued in a long time, or at least to that extent. It's just a football game and in the grand scheme of life, has little importance. I would never in a million years hurt my best friend. I love him like a brother. I am so grateful cooler heads prevailed in those heated moments. I'm sure both of us would be ashamed and embarrassed today if we had gotten physically violent towards each other over a football game.

The NFL is cyclical. The 49ers are going to have good runs. The Rams are going to have good runs. It's inevitable. Let's remember that as fans from both teams sit here and argue about things they have no control over. Enjoy it while your team is playing well because it doesn't last for long and it never will.

Peace

Good luck to both teams this year. I hope we meet in the playoffs real soon. I got my popcorn ready!

Again Shelock. Jimmy G is not part of the calculation. The only FA Rams signed this year are Suh and Shields to one year contracts so they have no bearing on the future., Meanwhile, the shrimp RB you signed does affect next years cap.

If you are counting anyone else then you do not know what a free agent is.

You seem to be hung up on the semantics of the lone term "FA" which if you'd bothered to re-read my original rant on pg. 76 wasn't the only thing I'd accused the Rams of spending money on (I'd said: "FAs and re-signings" and "big $$$ spent on frankly marginal improvement"). Those statements to me covered the Rams transactions, apart from the trades they did.

NO WHERE did I compare how much the Rams spent this 2018 offseason to what the Niners did.

P.S. You're in the same SOL boat injury-wise if Suh or Shields or both go down so don't go gloating about our loss. I'll take McKinnons cap hit yet still having rights to him, over two guys likely bouncing after a year and if they got hurt all I got in return from them is minimal contrib and iffy comp picks that can either pan out or bust.
FA loaded teams can sometimes win it all (2018 Eagles, 2015 Broncos).

But more often than not they don't.

However, being as it may, it's very hard to win it all in any given year, under ANY kind of team build up. We saw how hard it was to punch it in, despite having a team good enough for 3 consecutive NFC Conference appearances.

If we could have truly applied hindsight, then either of the 2013 or 2014 offseasons, Baalke should have went all in on FAs (defense or offense, doesn't matter) and maybe that would have put a 6th ring in the case. Then we could have had the s*** 3 years we wound up having anyways, and maybe now we'd be in a similar boat but at least a Lombardi to show for it.

Rams will certainly be interesting this year. Lost in the conversation is that they gave up a good MLB (Ogletree) and edge rushing DE (Quinn) in order to solidify CB and add Suh to the defense. Defense probably is better so long as the pass rush drop off isn't there and they channel the offense to the CBs. For a guy like Shanahan, the Rams are more like the Jaguars but without the stud edge rushers and LBs.....and they were still thrown on.

Offensively, Cooks was a very good addition. Andy Benoit thinks he was a great scheme fit for the Rams.

It's weird.....the hatred for the Rams like the old days and recent Seahawks is not quite there yet. If the Rams win the SB this year, I won't be pissed off like I would Seattle or NYG.

ArizonaBlue might be interesting to talk to, but this ramsfan didn't get the memo how you have to play nice in other people's backyards.

Can't wait to see how this season transpires.
I play nice here. Always have.

Yes you said DA and resignings barely mad the Rams roster better. Well resignings would theoretically not add or.e subtract so hence why I focused on FA. Which we have to agree 48ers spent more, Morover saying the Rams spendt too much without delineating the actual players is a useless statment,

Now if you talk about retaining players well lets examine.

Aarom Donald. Perhaps the nest defensive player in the league. Apparently John Lynch agrees with that type of salary since he went aggsresive in trying to get Mack. Which means he was willing to no only pass a Donald like slaary but add in draft picks

Aqib Talib. Lynch traded for him but he did not want to play for 49ers

Marcus Peters. Currently cheap for a pro bowl player

Brandin Cooks.. Keeping Watkins was the same amount. Cooks is better

Todd Gurley. Last years Offenseive MVP. Enough said.

Rob Havenstein. Solid RT at a decent salary

Robert Woods. 8mil a year for a guy who was on pace for 1,000 yds. Similar to what 49ers did with Goodwin

Whitworth. Pro bowler,. Cheap at 11mil

Sullivan. Cheap at 5 mill. Solid pro. Like Richuirg but cheaper,

You see. Throwing out a line like Rams spent a bunch of money and not putting it into context is just intellectually lazy.

When you have great players you have to pay. The alternative could be something like spending 3 first rounders on the Dline and still not having a pass rush. I suppose you save money when you dont reup the wasted picks.

I agree.

But what would you think would happen if joined a rams forum and started calling them clueless?

(I know you aren't doing that, just asking a question)

You are free and welcome on my home Rams board. Come join!!!

I welcome the discourse. I have invited fans of other teams, we have many now.

Oh and sorry. I should not have said clueless. I'll watch my words for fun with all of you this season.

I am a division rival fan. But, I can never discount my fun here while Rams sucked so bad.

I adore many of the posters here.
Mayo saying

Go Niners Go

Or whatever version just cracks me up. Love it.

I mean REAL Rams fans. We are the best. Every awesome fan I know has suffered thru losing, moving to STL, coming back to our home in LA.

We are the best. Also we have not actually won anything recent. We know our players inside out, we know our division rivals teams better sometimes than their own fans.

We are good.

ETA: I do not know the Rams fan who posted above me. No clue. Looks like he joined the board last week. I expect more of that as Rams are good now.
