Just wanted to come in a b!tch about the coverage. How poor was CBS's coverage? More interested in hyping the "SUPERBOWL Experience" than the actual game. Several times they went to a screen shot of the upcoming halftime show rather than a replay of a play that I would have like to have seen. Or closeups of players for 20 seconds (I think it was Talib) walking to the sideline, rather than a replay. Or completely missing what was going on in the game. I could go on, but it's a waste of time. All the Networks are getting worse all the time it seems.

I guess that the network and announcers are starting to view the Game itself as secondary to the SUPERBOWL experience.

I keep telling y'all the league is about the story now. The game is secondary more and more it seems
We all know cbs is that worst. I think it's time for ESPN to host a Super Bowl.

Terribly one-sided officiated game. The Panthers got the business. The NFL got their wish.

I guess I saw a different game because I just didn't see it.

I saw one play that was a clear catch for a first down by the Panthers be called a drop by the refs when the ball never touched the ground.

It was early, yes, but in these types of games even early plays can have an effect later in the game and this one did.

Panthers still could have done something to win the game later on, they just didn't. They didn't need the refs help in losing, but they still got it.

Beyond that the refs are so terrible even clear replays can't dissuade them when they're wrong. The NFL HQ is part of the problem, too.

I am getting tired of Dean Blandino's refusal to acknowledge that he's wrong.

Panther lost fair and square

I mostly agree, I'd say 95-99% fairly and squarely, as they bent over for the Broncos.

Dropped catches, over throws, special teams mistakes, etc., the Panthers just gave it up.

However, the refs sure helped early in the game, in these types of games early ref mistakes can still impact the outcome of the games. The evidence says it did.

The Panthers are not put in a position to go down 10-0 if the refs don't blow a crystal clear call two plays earlier.

That being said, I agree the Panthers bent over and lost, but in doing so they had help in the process by a group (the refs) that shouldn't impact the game at all.

Scroll down the ball clearly touched the ground
If only Jed could be more like Elway
One of the worst Super Bowls I've seen. Sloppy play by both teams and two struggling QB's. Storylines were boring. Game never felt like it would be suspenseful like last year's. I get it. Super Bowl, commercials, performers etc...This one didn't live up to it. As a matter of fact most the SB's that Peyton plays in are boring. His first one all the way to this one. New England vs Carolina would have been a better match up.
I was rooting for Carolina, but ultimately I didn't really care. There were two plays that defined the game:

1) the officials not overturning Jerricho Cotchery's catch in the first quarter. That would've been like a 25-30 yard gain; instead, they upheld the call on the field, and a play or two later Von Miller's strip sack lead to a TD. Enormous change of events. I thought it should've been overturned, but it was pretty close, and given that it was originally ruled incomplete I understand upholding it.

2) TJ Ward picks off Cam Newton, but then proceeds to fumble around the 5-yard line; I have no idea how the Panthers didn't recover that fumble, I swear there were three of them there to fall in it. Instead of first and goal from the 4, the Broncos got the ball back. Again, enormous swing there. The Panthers threw away a gift. Carolina probably puts it in the end zone if they managed to recover it.

Manning played like cat piss. Denver scored only two TDs: one on the aforementioned Von Miller sack, and a second time after recovering a fumble at the 4 yard line late in the 4th. They definitely won in spite of Manning yesterday.

Overall it was a sloppy game but it was moderately entertaining. I was hoping for a better ending though. I wanted to see the Panthers jump ahead 17-16, to see what would've happened if Manning had a shot to engineer a game-ending field goal drive to win a Super Bowl. Now that would've been a great ending.

Patriots would have been smoked by Carolina, but it sounds like you would have enjoyed that

I think better offense by both teams would have made it a better game. This game was all turnovers, penalties and bad special teams.

oh no, no storyline and no good QB play, only good defense play. terrible SB for casual fans or fans who think football revolves around quarterbacks
Horrible Super Bowl... Two great defenses hammering each other through out , close game through out that wasn't decided until late, legend going out a super bowl winner, man it was awful.

Yeah because the NFL is not a QB driven league.... Nice try.
