This is a bogus narrative.

That 2nd round pick can be used for many things -- including a trade up into the top 5 or back into the late 1st round.
I would rather have a coach that hasn't been "there" yet. Someone with a chip on their shoulder. Hue Jackson.
I'm calling it.. this thing will pick up steam once again unless Sean Payton renegotiates his contract. Here's my prediction:

Not only will Sean Payton be coming to town but so will Drew Brees for a 2nd, 5th and Colin Kaepernick. BOOM!

Let there be no mistake, Sean Payton was open to leaving New Orleans. But interest in him, with compensation, not what he thought it'd be.

So, if we weren't willing to pay him what he's already getting, then why even enter the race? Unless he wanted $10M/year which is crazy money for the record he has after winning the superbowl 7 years ago.

Jed lied again

Please refresh my memory. What was the lie, again?

Sean Payton isn't leaving New Orleans - http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/14515792/sean-payton-remain-head-coach-new-orleans-saints

Drew Brees is 36 years old and still under contract - http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/new-orleans-saints/drew-brees/

Realistically we'll get a coach who wants to prove himself and a new quarterback come April.

Nah, he's more likely to do what I predicted.
Can we lock this... no point in this thread anymore.

In his entire history as GM he has selected 1 injured player in the 2nd round -- Tank Carradine. So, I don't think what you're suggesting is likely at all. In fact, it's a near certainty that he won't.
