Sometimes the greatest of players can make the dumbest decisions. Harbaugh was handing Peyton the SB trophy on a silver platter back in 2012. A dominant defense, good STs, and a QB away from having a potent offense boasting guys like Vernon Davis, Frank Gore, Michael Crabtree. We wouldve easily won it all in 2012 (imagine Manning-Brady bowl for the championship), obviously won in 2013, and couldve beat the Hawks in 2014 in the NFCC. Potential for 3-peat and even if Manning wins 2 of those 3, he goes down easily as the GOAT. Instead, he bites on Elway's offer (maybe he didnt want to compete with baby brother in the NFC) and he will leave the game playing second fiddle to Brady, not to mention join the ranks of great regular season QBs that choked in the playoffs. Sometimes you have to be greedy as a player, and Peyton made the ultimate legacy killer move by not joining Harbs when he had the chance. Thoughts ?

Marino was probably the most talented and gifted thrower of all time but that didn't translate to W.
I guess that physical ability is not that important.

The problem of guys like Marino, Elway(more in early career), Favre and others gifted throwers is that they could't master the game mentally like Montana, Brady or even Manning.

The gifted ones know when to press and when to take what a team gives them. Those that try to win the game themselves always have less success.

I think he compares pretty well to Marino. Both had had prolific offenses and played without a respectable defense for most of their career. Marino had plenty of weapons though.

Yes, Marino had a lot of weapons but Peyton had far better offensive lines and defensive support. Those Colts teams were on average far better than Marino's Dolphins teams. This is why Peyton gets a lot more criticism for only winning 1 SB than Marino gets for winning none.

Not buying it. Peyton made a crappy Colts team a contender every year. He left and how did they fair? They got the first pick in the draft. He won without a defense. Pulliam is famed for his success with the Colts but if he had any idea on how to build a defense the Colts would've been in the NFC Championship game every year battling the Ravens or Pats

Peyton is so done after this season, even if they make the play-offs, it would be 1 and done again. Then Alex Smith will rule that division lol!!!

Denver's defense will still rule that division. With Peyton Manning playing like a below average NFL QB this year, they are still 7-2. Blaine Gabbert or Kaepernick could have a winning record on that team and I have to believe it's an attractive destination for free agent QB's with 2 elite WR's to throw to.

Peyton is a little bitxh. He could have chosen us and take less money to play for a winner than to take more money to play for a loser team like the broncos. He got what he deserves.

Meanwhile his entire time as a starting QB for the Donkeys he's a defacto coach/OC , a near dictator .

Only when it suits him.

That's a big reason they got killed in the super bowl. Their coach Peyton manning got punched in the mouth early and his teammates had no coach to rescue them .

I'm enjoying the downfall. He's as much a subtle egotistic prick as the midget.

Me either. Peyton was a fantastic quarterback for many many years, but it's painfully obvious that he has nothing left in the tank. He should be honest with himself and call it a day after this season.
