The Legacy of Peyton Manning

The news this morning that he is suffering from plantar fasciitis explains a lot of why he has struggled the last two games. When you cannot push off your plant foot you are not going to put passes where they belong. PF is one of the most painful injuries a player/person can have. You cannot shoot up with pain killers because you have to be able to feel with your foot as you move around. Manning has always spent a lot of time on footwork and without being able to move and feel where you are stepping you just cannot play well.

At the expense of sounding all techy and such; in my career, a good part of my time was spent dealing with performance footwear. Part of that time involved training as a pedorthist (building orthotics for specific foot problems). One of the things I learned was that just because a footwear company has done a great job in marketing, selling the color and hype, that does not mean they truly do a good job building a supportive shoe that works well with a specific kind of foot issue. PF is one of the most common problems that arises when the shoe does not support and flex the way it should. Once a problem develops, it can takes weeks, even months in some cases, to get the plantar fascia ligament to heal.

From the reports about his injury, he may not be back until the middle of December if he waits until it completely heals. Coming back early will not help his legacy.

i swear to god the networks protect jerry.. i can only recall shots of him whooping it up when something goes right for the cowboys. kind of like the way buck and aikman protect rodgers and green bay

I dont know who your post is directed at, but the premise of the thread is that Peyton left a lot on the table in terms of championships when he chose Denver over San Fran. We were a much more ready championship caliber team, and Im sure he wouldve won at least two (definitely one) with us, which would have assured him the spot as best ever. He's going to retire with one ring, and a lot of coulda woulda shouldas when it's all said and done....when he couldve retired in the ranks of greats like Montana, Brady, Bradshaw, Starr. Great QBs during the season and in crunch time (eg playoffs).

The Legacy is that he was not benched 4 years in to his career

Denver Broncos coach Gary Kubiak made it official Monday afternoon, announcing that Brock Osweiler will start at quarterback Sunday against the Chicago Bears and Peyton Manning will begin the process of trying to heal a partially torn plantar fascia in his left foot.


Looking forward to seeing what Brock, a Montana native, can do.

Or they didnt want to pay manning 19 million per year which would have prevented them signing guys like bowman anthony davis carlos rogers etc. etc., harbaugh insulted his arm strength(many reported this), harbaugh and the medical staff were weary of how long he could last due to the fact is spine was fused together at the neck, harbaugh wouldnt let manning run his own system, or manning simply preferred denver and what they had talent wise to the niners(demaryious, decker, ryan clady at tackle, von miller etc. etc.).

Not defending baalke, think he has made some dumb ass decisions, used to like the guy. But we all know he doesnt over spend because he prefers to pay his own players, and when he does spend on free agents he doesnt go with risky players. Such as a 37 yeard ld qb coming off spinal surgery. Unless the money is right that is.

where were you guys at the time ?, there was a Decision day on which team Manning was going to choose the 49ers or the broncos

I wouldn't put him top 5 maybe not even top 10. He could never win a playoff game in NE, he probably still sees Ty Law in his nightmares. His one SB win was against Rex Grossman. He was the greatest QB in the NFL for the first 10 games of the season.

Steve Young super bowl was vs Stan Humphries. What difference does that make? You can't control who you play in the super bowl.
