Qb play this year

It's funny to me how awful quarterbacks are playing this year. Also, it astonishes me that not more quarterbacks are getting criticized a lot more than Kaepernick. Quarterbacks are throwing interceptions like they're going out of style and should be benched or at least criticized immensely in the media. Take Sam Bradford he is horrible in a team friendly offense. Cam newton throws three interceptions and nothing will be said about that. Nick Foles is one of the worst rated passers in the league and where are the screams for him to get benched. Russell Wilson is not doing well at all and is playing like kap Last year. Running around with his head cut off running into sacks only a one read quarterback and his performance and accuracy is highly questionable. Russell Wilson still cannot win a game on his own like some of the other quarterbacks in the league. Peyton Manning is doing horrific. With the best wr core and a decent ol. Tannenhill has thrown some awful games and passes and still can't throw deep with accuracy. Drew Brees doesn't look that great at all. Philip Rivers is doing pretty well but he also throws interceptions at the worst times especially to bad defenses like the Raiders. Andrew luck is turning out worse than Kaepernick in my opinion even though he is a better passer and he has a better offense around him. He makes worse decisions than kap by a landslide. Joe Flacco is doing poorly as well and has cost his team wins directly as well. Matt Stafford has his horrible games and has one of the best receiving course in the NFL. Matt Ryan is good but his quarterback play leaves a lot to be desired especially when he has Julio Jones and Freeman to help him out You get the point. I still want an average ol for kap and he will dust a lot of the above mentioned qbs. Over the last 2 games kap has been terrific then against a very good secondary he struggles which was to be expected. I guess if you are playing horrible at qb and your TEAM wins, they don't single you out in the media. If this were true maybe Peyton or cam would be criticized a lot more. Don't know why there isn't rumblings in stl for foles to be benched or Bradford either. Wow Just a troubling trend but I still want a better qb than kap with better play however until he has maybe a below average ol instead of the worst ol and better game calling like maybe a qb bootleg or rollout of hell, even 1 qb run called, I won't be calling for his head. It's funny how mark schlereth said inn27 years he has not seen WORSE OL PLAY. Yes other teams have bad ol play as well but nothing like what kap has had to deal with. At least a bad ol like Seattle can run block. Just dam frustrating. What do you think about qb play this year and the reasons behind these other qbs not being scrutinized like kap?

These guys aren't being criticized like CK b/c some of their teams are winning and that masks everything. Nobody cares about the Rams so who is gonna criticize Foles. Bradford gets killed in the media, and folks are talking about Philly being the perfect spot for Kap. Rivers was talked about being washed up and needed to retire just 2/3 years ago. Cam won't be criticized much b/c his team is winning with Ted Ginn as a #1 wr. Cam has been criticized a lot over his career though. Russel has a super bowl so you already know that gets you a pass. I'm not sure what you been watching but everybody has acknowledged that Peyton is done and has a noodle arm. . But he's an all time legend with cool commercials and he's almost 40. Brees has a super bowl and is nearing the end of his career. Stafford has got somewhat of a pass. Matt Ryan is winning in ATL he's not gonna get criticized. Now Luck is getting a pass. I have heard some guys talk down on Luck but overall the media has given him a total pass. It's why Wilson gives the media the cornball generic answers. When you are viewed as a nice media friendly players that buys you equity with the writers. That plays a part in it also. Give dick one answer questions and walk off podiums then the media is more likely to crush you when things aren't going well.

O line play all around the league has been pretty f**king terrible and it's contributing to some crappy qb play.

Tannenhill recently broke NFL record for most completions in a row. I still think he's average QB though.

Yeah see your point, seems Kap getting more blame than all others. I believe it's justified due to reasons:

Got a huge contract renewal, has yet to earn it. Instead of making defenses pay by scrambling, he's forced to be a pocket passer, not a threat to run as before, easily shaken when throws INTs, etc.

Because he was successful in the past as a scrambling type QB, it was hard for DCs to plan on defending against him. Now, thanks to poor OL protection plus decrease in accuracy and unwillingness to throw the ball against tougher defenses, he's become a liability in the passing game.

I would enjoy a Patriots vs Green Bay SB due to QBs growing up as Niners fans and because they're great passing QBs with high accuracy and who are not afraid to throw down field.

Peyton should get more scrutiny because it was clear he was over the hill and he's holding back a team that should be serious Super Bowl threat. Yes, they're still undefeated but no one seriously thinks they will beat NE in the playoffs. They are winning in spite of Peyton, and barely beating bad teams. They don't have a single impressive victory.

Exactly. To be honest, I was absolutely shocked that Peyton didn't retire after last season. His physical decline was there for everyone to see during the second half of the 2014 season, but the media was covering for him with a phantom injury excuse. It really is a shame for Denver because their D is absolutely legit this season, but they won't be going anywhere with Peyton in the playoffs. He's already thrown 10 picks against mostly mediocre-to-bad opposition and it's well known that his level of performance drastically declines during the playoffs/in cold weather. Add the problems with the Denver running game on top of it and it won't be a pretty sight come playoff time...

As for Sam Bradford, he's being wildly criticized. I have never been a Sam Bradford fan, but to me, he's simply not a good fit for Chip Kelly's scheme (just like Demarco Murray) and whatever potential he's held has been ruined by all the injuries he has suffered.

Kap is getting national criticism, for sure. But that's because he (and his team) was so successful before. The world has seen him do exceptionally well in the playoffs. They've seen him set all-time playoff records. So, his fall makes for a sizable thud.

Luck has been terrible. Actually, even worse than Kap. Almost all of Luck's production has come in the 4th qtr when they trailed by 2 or more touchdowns.

Peyton Manning has been terrible. He's a bottom 10 QB this season.

Then you have more obvious mediocre to terrible QBs:
Mallett
Cassel
Hoyer
Bortles
Manziel
Manuel
Bradford
Stafford (thus far)
Wilson
A. Smith
Cousins
Fitzpatrick
Bridgewater
Foles
Flacco

And that's without including the rookie QBs.

You can see why people would be so hesitant to completely cut bait with Kaepernick. It's not like there are a ton of better options out there. Any opinion to the contrary is just based in emotion. Check out the fan sites of these QBs -- they hate their guy too. So, given the current state of NFL QBs -- changing out Kap for anybody short of a top 10 QB is just change for the sake of change. Simply, there's nothing better out there.

Andrew Luck went to high school at Stratford, college at Stanford, and now that he's in the NFL he plays like Stafford.
