In all seriousness, it's not like I have a crystal ball that says Rush would be great, but where my fury lies is in the fact that we've gotten nothing out of our starters all season. We NEEDED to see what the young guys have. It became more and more idiotic as the season went on for Rush to not get a chance. Even while linebackers continued to drop, we didn't give him a chance.

He already screwed the team.

Exactly, especially with Lynch missing most of the season as well.

I thought Kelly and the other coaches confirmed earlier this year that Baalke set the 53 man roster. Rush didn't ever make the 53, did he?

Rush's success in preseason may or may not play into the regular season. I thought they might activate him when Lynch was out. But, for whatever reason they didn't. That said, there are much bigger problems on this team...losing Rush is really pretty small potatoes.

Man, I don't expect him to lead the league in sacks, but damn, at least give the guy a chance after 2 years of showing his non stop motor even with LIMITED SKILLS.. we keep giving TANK & SLOB chances after chances because of their measurements, but damnnnnnn youuuu BAALKEEEE !!!

You even said yourself that he's in charge of the roster, that includes bringing players up from the PS, that's his call.
With all the injuries and busts on defense Rush should have been promoted to the active roster weeks ago. The pass rush has been so poor & the 49ers didnt even give kid a shot such a shame.

Just more salt in the wound, Baalke & York have completely destroyed the 49ers.

This, they should have promoted him to the roster weeks ago, and had tank, Lemonoir or eli harold inactive and let rush see what he can do. It was RIDICULOUS to let a pass rusher leave when the team needs a pass rush.

No, that's not Baalke's call. The coach determines the depth chart including practice squad.

All the players on the roster? That's Baalke's doing. Who plays, that's up to Chip.

Edit: I thought it was Chip's call, apparently not;

Please name me a GM who cuts a former 2nd-rounder or a last year's 3rd-rounder for a nobody DURING THE SEASON.

Ya, most of the time GMs decide to bring a player up or not, at the same time, it's pretty crazy to think that O'Neil or Chip didn't go ask Trent to promote him.

O'Neil was asked if he would go talk to general manager Trent Baalke about possibly activating Rush. After all, at 1-9, the team's season is over and it would be nice to see if the 49ers have anything in the young linebacker. "No," O'Neil answered. "I don't get involved in those conversations. If my opinion is asked, I give it."

So O'Neil was asked about his opinion of Rush. "He does a great job in practice every day," he said. - See more at: http://www.49erswebzone.com/articles/100659-dont-hold-your-breath-waiting-marcus-rush-play/#sthash.51xrJCgM.uJzkzK7z.dpuf

So if he does such a good job at practice, why doesn't he get involved in those convos? Probably the same reasons Jim isn't here anymore, since he decided to get involved in those convos.

IF these are all true, then our DC truly is a POOCY!!!!!

CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG... but wasn't Rathman ONLY an intern THEN (under Mooch) when he said he would QUIT if the MANAGEMENT and COACHING STAFF does not cut LAWRENCE PHILLIPS (rip) for laughing after STEVE YOUNG's concussion against the CARDS??
