Please, I've been hearing about Pryor's "upside" since his days at Ohio State, its clear that he's not a pro level QB right now nor has he come close to reaching his fabled and legendary "upside."


I don't think Gabbert is anything special either but in terms of pocket presence, getting through his progressions and all the stuff that QB's traditionally do, he's far ahead of Pryor.


If Pryor can't beat out Josh Johnson for a backup QB spot with the Bengals, that will be another condemnation of his lack of ability to be an NFL quarterback.

He's an acceptable backup IMHO. He's a playmaker with his legs. People forget he has a longer career TD run than Kap.

But he should switch to WR yesterday and work on his craft. He is only 25 and at 6'6 runs a 4.3. He could be a matchup nightmare.

I don't think he is. Seattle traded a 7th for him and he still didn't make their team, and you'd think that he'd be the perfect backup to Wilson. Obviously teams believe that his limitations as a quarterback outweigh his playmaking ability. I agree that the upside is alluring, but the fact that he keeps getting shuttled around lends strong credence to the belief that he'll never realize that potential.

As someone else commented, if he were willing to accept a position change, I think he could make for a pretty damn good WR. He's still fairly young, take a couple seasons to learn the position and I think he could do very well with his natural physical traits and ability.

I just can't get my head around these guys who are so adamant about sticking w/failure.

They have an opportunity to make MAJOR $$$ and will NEVER make that kind of jack anywhere else.

Too bad youth is wasted on the young.

i'd take this dude as a backup over gabbert anyday. In an emergency, he can at least come in and run the read option with success.

A QB whose ability to go through his progressions and not lock on to receivers makes Kaepernick look like Tom Brady.......

Pryor sucks ass, I didn't think he was anything special at Ohio St. and now he's proving it even more. I'd rather see the coaching staff develop someone like Dylan Thompson.

Why not bring in Jamarcus Russell while you're at it or Joey Harrington.
