Hoping Brown has a breakout year, my gut feeling is he will do a decent job. Drafting a tackle in the first doesn't always equate to success, was reading an article, I think it was last years top 2 tackles haven't amounted to anything.
We'll see, especially with a HC like CK.
I am more worried about Kilgore, because of his injuries- we need a healthy starting center.

I think its gotta be OL, DL or QB with the #7 pick.
sus dropping knowledge up in here. I love it!
agree with both of these guys. i still think our number one will be a really good player for us

Shots fired at Pears
And at Davis.

Good call Wild Bill!
For many, many years tackles drafted in the 1st were no guarantee of success.
In the 2014 draft, the Rams took Greg Robinson w/the 2nd overall pick and he hasn't been nearly as good as hoped for. In fact they seem to have him playing at Guard.
Jake Matthews was touted as the most NFL ready prospect - haven't we all heard that before - and Falcons picked him #6 in the 1st.
His record wwas 7 QB sacks, 9 QB hits, 35 hurries,. Vomit worthy!
They may improve as time goes by AND that's why I wanted an OLineman or 2 in FA.
Because they are "PROVEN" and rookies are qa crap shoot.

As long as Trent Brown is not an immobile blob who has to sit in a chair to tie his shoelace, I am optimistic for him competing this season for RT job.
But, any weight over 320 makes me worried about edge rushers.

At 6'8" 330, that may be 'lean enough.'
But in Kelly's system, it wouldn't surprise me to see him drop another 10 pounds on cardio alone either.

Pretty sure he said on Twitter he's grown and up to 6'9 now
He made so much progress on his body last year I'd be mildly shocked if he didn't keep it up. I have him penciled in as our starter at RT, but the Rams trading up is making me wonder what we'd do if Tunsil were to slip.

LOL. I totally forgot about that!
It was actually a bit comical trying to watch pass rushers get around him to the outside. I wish some would post some gifs from the Bengals, Lions or Rams game (where he started). I think he got some snaps prior to that...shared snaps in the Browns game?
Edit: I checked. He had a total of 186 snaps @ 9 (ATL), 34 (CIN), 62 (DET) & 81 (STL) with a 77 AV grade by PFF. I counted a total of 2 QB pressures over those snaps.

Tunsil ain't slipping anywhere past Jacksonville at 5. He may even go to Cleveland at 2 or San Diego at 3.

Because he has a rare combination of elite size and excellent feet. He just needs experience.
I remember in the preseason when I was calling for him to start and you were saying the same...it was apparent that edge rushers were having the damnedest time trying to get around him. Not to mention, he handles stunts and twists extremely well for a man his size which is paramount in the division we play in.

Can you imagine a R side sweep, with :
Staley /Zane/kilgore(OC Draftee)/tiller/ brown...and BELL .Between RG and TE we ahve over 1000 lbs of massive beef. R side sweep with those 3 guys ought to be exciting for the D. Trent got some blocks downfield last yr and did so with great agility as well as speed. He is a winner no matter how you slice it.

I think he was the number 2 rated run blocker in all of college. He will be a solid if not very good RT.

I wanted him to start last year. Guys just seem to have such a hard time getting around him to the outside. He is so agile he can handle the twists & stunts also. Hope he comes ready to play this year!

I'm curious to see what type of shape he comes to camp in. If he worked hard this off-season and cut weight and got stronger then he might become a gem. He has the size, feet and ability. The question will be dedication.
