What a waste of roster space and money.

Why do people in here keep saying this. The team did not just "give him" $9 million. He is playing in 2018 under his rookie deal, so they are paying him whatever that amount is for this season. IF he is still on the team at the beginning of the next league year, which starts in March of 2019, or if he is injured as of that date then they will owe him the guaranteed amount for his option year. If he gets through the season without injury and the team decides to cut ties with him then they can do so before March and not be on the hook for a single dime of that $9 Million.
On the subject of opinions. Seems to me that one can't really have an opinion unless they are cognizant of the pertinent facts surrounding the topic under discussion. They can have a reaction. Not an opinion. And no, they aren't the same thing.
Not to mention from a business standpoint Armstead now has a motive for finding his way to IR, cashing in a 9 million dollar pay day. After 2019 Its possible he doesn't see that much money over the rest of his NFL career.
He also has motive to play at a high level... big money long term deal, be it here or on the open market.
He is not going to purposely try to get injured just to get 9 mill for one year, and that is what it seems you implied.
I'm implying he has 9 million reasons to hit the IR asap.

You mean unfair, right? I agree. I personally think 2020 or 2021 would be the best years to evaluate him.
i guess it would make sense to sign him. he would come at a vets minimum and he does know the scheme and system even though i hope our dc will be gone by then

no son. i am mad at lynch cuz he kept this piece of glass ass when the man has done little to deserve a roster spot. he brings down the defensive line

Lol, sure. But you can't name a single player you would sign instead for the little we are paying him on his rookie contract. If he doesn't finally take off he is gone. If he does, we are in the driver's seat. It's not a big deal.

I do not care if he is making a vets minimum salary or is a high priced player, he have proven in his niner career, in my opinion. that he is not worth any amount we are paying him. when you keep the same trash and just hope for different results. you will get the same trash. and as we found out. four months later. history just keeps repeating itself with him. it does not bother you we draft him high and he keeps getting hurt and when he does play he is great at whiffing tackles and missing assignments

Can't cut everybody in two years. But that doesn't seem to matter to you. We aren't going to be good at every position...if there was a clear cut upgrade available for a reasonable price you might have a point. I am just fine seeing what he can do coming back to play in the same scheme, for the same coach, with some familiar faces around him.
