lol...1 sack in a blow out loss in garbage time...I am impressed now...

Who said one was impressive? You said when he gets A sack. He has one. It was pointed out.

Its difficult for some to admit when they get owned

PFF gave Armstead a +2 grade for this game.

– This was the third-straight game above +1.0 for the 49ers' first-round draft pick, DE Arik Armstead, who managed five combined pressures in 22 snaps. Armstead did most of his work in the first half against Atlanta's interior line with his play at 1:09 of the second quarter standing out. He also drew a holding penalty in the third quarter which nullified a significant first down conversion for the Falcons.

Time for people to let go of the idea that this was a bad pick. This guy could be a monster for years to come. He was heavily double-teamed at times especially in the second half and still got pressure.

One of the league's best runners gets 12 yards on 12 carries???!!! Come on.

This. He's looked exactly as what he was billed as, a raw rookie with a ton of upside, progressing faster than his detractors will ever admit.

When he is starting and playing well next season, they'll have to get a little more ridiculous with their comments.

"But does he have 12 sacks??? I didnt think so, he sucks until he gets 12 sacks!"

You asked for a sack...you got a sack. Now you want to dissect when and how he got it?

He's been close to several more and has generated pressure consistently and been by FAR our best defensive linemen getting pressure on the QB and that's from a guy who was drafted much more on his future potential.

The fact that he's doing as well as he is so early is a great sign of things to come. If you can't comprehend that then not much point talkign to you.

This guy should have been drafted higher. Crazy good grab by Baalke.
Wish he would get more playing time, I am happy with ward. Safety & nickel is a very hard position to play well from the beginning. He is developing into a good player.

Things are definitely looking good for Armstead. Once he gets really comfortable and develops his technique further, I think he'll be a cornerstone of the defense for years to come. We may not see it on full display until next year, but the guy is definitely beginning to play well.

...but there must be another reason for this, can't be the niners defense because Mangini can't coach, Armstead was a wasted pick and the young DBs can cover...oh, and Ward was another wasted 1st round pick...oh, and Reid too...and Tartt...

There are just some people invested in being negative so the bar will change every time it's reached and the focus will change in search of a negative. This week it's Chryst's play calling. Next week it may be the ST guy or Mangini again...or back to Tomsula.

But I loved a win...no matter how poorly every one coached or played!
Nice bright spot for the new regime to work with.

Coming along well and played solid testerday.
I was meh on the pick at the time, but the guy has done well with every opportunity he has been given. I am really hoping for a day one starter DE in the 2016 draft to start opposite of him. Our defense will be almost all the way back with two young studs causing all types of disruption on the D-line. Then Glenn Dorsey can play out the rest of his contract at NT.
I think the upside on Armstead is really promising. He'll look even better once the talent on our front 7 improves.
A big part of me wants to see him paired with Buckner again. Buckner is looking really good right now and paired with Armstead again could help make an elite D-line.

Imagine him on the same line as Wilkerson next year. We'll be big FA spenders and he won't be franchised. A man can dream.

According to CBS' prospect rankings the 9ers could trade back and get a guy like Buckner or trade up for a second R1 pick!
