AA should have made it - needs to redirect that snub at the upcoming QB's.

Stay, King!
"I love it here," Armstead said. "I've been here my whole career. I can't even imagine myself playing anywhere else really. I'm a Northern California guy through and through, and to be a part of kind of the down times here and be a part of going through the adversity and then being part of this season, I wouldn't change that for anything."
#49ers DL Arik Armstead is in the midst of his best NFL season as he approaches free agency. He's not thinking about what's to come but also admits he'd love to stick around. "I can't even imagine myself playing anywhere else really."... https://t.co/jxq7vzmnMr

I hope he stays and on the same consistent level. But if another team put millions in front of him, his imagination gonna run wild.

Just franchise him.

Franchise is going to cost them 18 million. If they don't get an extension done they will probably let him walk and fill his spot with a veteran cap casualty until they can draft a replacement.

This makes no sense. The team is significantly worse off with this outcome. If Armstead is not on this team without the Niners receiving significant trade assets in return... our FO has failed.

I hope him and the defense start to play like they did the first 8 weeks of the season.

Well that's just a horrible plan. You tag him at the very least. You can then move him for draft capital or work on a LT contract up until July. Never let young talent walk out the door.

The Niners already have that in 2020 cap space. And with only one very late first round pick and zero twos or threes... the cap hold for draft picks is tiny. Moreover, you can easily carve out additional space by reworking Garoppolo's deal and cutting a couple bloated contracts.

There are numerous ways to resign not only AA but extend others as well. Someone upstairs knows the cap well.

Yeah AB laid out a whole cap structure on how we can sign everyone and what it would do down the road. Looks like it can be done rather easily.
